Welcome to FT.

Skip it and go for the rollover. Keep the money you would have used for a MR and do a MR next year to keep your PM status.

A "quick" 16K MQM flight for "a few hundred bucks"?? I don't think that' going to happen.

You can purchase 17,500 MQM from Delta without flying for about $1600. That's about $0.09 per mile.

You can buy up to 10,000 MQM's from DL until 12/15 for $ 895.

Guess you will have to do a BIS to get the rest!

That's probably one MR if you make it TATL.

There is a 10,000 MQM cap on that.

Anyway to get that. Maybe a quick flight somewhere for a few hundred bucks but for would rather avoid that if I can.

Stay Platinum, you'll enjoy the perks + you'll be able to hit Platinum again next year with ease. Diamond isn't worth it.

+1, plus you ain't getting 16K for less than $1K if you ask me, and that's if you score a super MR.

UPDATE

I wanted to give all you kind souls an update -- I did ask for the mileage credit, in hopes of getting the MQMs, and Delta gave me 10k bonus miles for my awful travel day. That said, I'm not sure if any of the 10k are MQMs -- seems unlikely -- so I am waiting on the response (don't want to seem too greedy but only need 150 MQMs!)

That said, has anyone ever bought a ticket, shown up at the airport, cleared security, checked in -- and then just not boarded the flight in attempt to get the MQM credit? I could do it one way on a cheap fare from Burlington to JFK and that would be smarter for me than buying 2500 MQMs for $300.

Thoughts?

If one does not board one does not get the EQMs!
If you can get a cheap flight then go for it - but travel ... and do the RT completely.

Looking to get cheap MQM's before end of year

I only need 1240 MQM's to get to Platinum, any suggestions on cheap o flights out of ATL? Or where to find them.

I know I can buy MQM's to reach my goal, but I would like to spend less than $300.

Thanks

Welcome to FT!

As what you are seeking is called a "mileage run" (the first of many glossary terms you will no doubt add to your vocabulary during your time here), your best bet is to check this forum: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...iscussion-627/

First step is to familiarize yourself with the tools in the Sticky threads to help locate cheap fares. Lots of experienced mileage runners there that can help if you have further questions.
