Can someone help me with this itinerary?
You will need more details like dates you want to go. Many carriers you'll be traveling on will have black out dates that will restrict your ability to find availability.

If you can find a way to DTW, there's plenty of low-level award space to NRT in June, and then several low level award dates from there to HKG. The same is true for the reverse. SIN would involve a backtracking or a cheap flight on a low cost carrier (such as JetStar Asia or Scoot).

I hope this helps!

JFK-CDG-HAM
HAM-CDG-SFO

for 4 pax in J 100k + $200.80 in fees in August 2013.

I gave up on the side trip to SEZ as 12+ calls later I was still unable to get the KQ itinerary I wanted. I think it's possible but you need to prepare yourself for 20+ calls each 45+ mins long to get them to check and deliver a correct quote (or even one with forgotten fuel surcharges). In 12 calls I was uanble to get a quote in 9 cases and I got 3 quotes for the same itin ranging from 112k miles and $200 to 270k miles and $1182 in surcharges.

However I found lots of availability for RUN which is just 2 hours away from SEZ and you can fly in AF J all the way without fuel surcharges. The Air Austral flight can be had for ~$400 which you can pay with Citi TYP (2 cards give you about $650 in flights each). That's what I gonna as a second trip now.

I was able to get 4 business class seats on SFO-JFK-MAD-FCO and MAD-MEX-LAX-SFO for return. I also booked Paris - Madrid using BA Avios all for next summer. I will be using AA, IB, AS for my trip. I also used my AA miles, BA Avios for this trip.

Honestly, it seems to me there is a bit more availability this fall / winter on DL metal (anecdotally at least).

My willingness to work for an award falls short of highman123's twelve calls, but a thorough search that works across the spectrum of available (but still reasonable segment-count) routings can often yield a decent award. I do tune ups - swapping medium for low, connections for non-stops - with free redeposits as a Plat.

Booked for next summer:

PIT/CDG nonstop in Y - 2 days in Paris (by choice)

CDG/TXL in Y - destination

TXL/CDG/PIT in J - including the CDG/PIT nonstop

80K miles - - Yay!

$180 in taxes!!! Yikes!

I know many here will say that on an award ticket, they won't fly TATL in Y, but, the PIT/CDG nonstop is fantastic for Pittsburghers! No problem snagging the front exit row aisle this far in advance.

I'm personally really concerned that DL will put an end to the Skymiles program as is so I'm trying to get all balances to zero soon.

Really concerned? I'm not.

I'm sure they'll do all they can to devalue it, but I think they make more money from selling miles to AMEX, etc than they do on actual flights. Eliminating Skymiles would only put them in Bankruptcy, again.
