Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

Discussion about most expensive segment is pretty useless without clarifying origination city. Out of Atlanta it is probably the most expensive segment for example - good luck ever finding it for much less than $9000 regardless of flexibility (with $13-16K for close-in bookings common). Connecting from somewhere else? Pricing will depend primarily on what the the next-best-option is. Even leaving from another Delta hub (LAX), the pricing on that segment can be as low as $3500-4000 round trip if you're willing to do an odd routing (e.g. LAX-CMH-ATL).

If you're looking at nonstops only, you'd probably be hard pressed to find a more expensive segment than ATL-JNB on average. But there may be one out there.

The notion of "expensive segment" doesn't really exist anymore in the era of city-pair / married segment pricing.

Probably the cheapest I'd ever find the route again.
If I can, I buy early, which typically saves me thousands and at today's rates I'm not loosing anything in the way of interest by not leaving that money in the bank! .

I booked next week's Africa tickets as soon as the 330 day window opened for an open jaw R/T: ATL - JNB + CPT - AMS - ATL. 2 - 3 days later the price went up a bunch, before eventually coming down a little. (Now, of course, just days before departure, the fare is over $3000 more per ticket than I paid almost 330 days ago. I'll be on a KLM 777-300ER (first time) in 2 - 2 - 2 for CPT - AMS then a Delta A330 (current favorite) home. It will be interesting to compare.

Early booking worked recently for next year's Jordan/Egypt trip, except this time the price increased over $2000 per ticket within a day or two, even before they posted D1 suites for the CDG - ATL leg. It has stayed there- the price increase preceded the D1 suites posting? I was hoping, because it looks like they have been/continue to swap the D1 suites airframes in and out of that route.

Which 777-200LR Delta One Suites seats are best for a couple?

We have an upcoming flight from LAX-PVG on the reconfigured 777-200LR. It will be our first time traveling in the new suites, and I'm not sure if the middle or window seats will offer a better experience. Based on what I've read, the middle seats are very private and don't really foster communication, so the window seats might be better. Would love to hear from others who have flown this configuration.

Middle seats have a little divider thing that should move so you can see each other. If you're both in window seats then you will each be completely secluded from each other unless you stand up.

That's helpful, thanks. If we go with the middle seats, are some rows better than others? Currently we're in 2B/2C, which seemed like a good option because it's the farthest away from the noise of the premium economy cabin.

For me...having a window beats sitting next to my husband which I can do anytime.

Good one!

The old configuration had the middles pointing away from each other which was hard for couples, but the suites seem to face forward at the same angle, so that should be better. And it was okay to talk across the aisle in the old config, but the suites are more private and don't angle the same way as before, so I imagine both window-window and window-aisle will be more difficult now.

The worst squalor I tell you.. they're worse than those in Economy.. at least the Y passengers know their place in the world and know to keep quiet in their cramped misery.. but that Premium Economy? They're wanna-be elites that can't even fork up the extra $4,000 for a real J ticket. No one in their right mind would want to associate with that kind of squalor...

Yes, heaven forbid I have to be remotely close to that squalor! But in all seriousness, if there's a middle seat row that is better than others, I'd love to hear it.

After a trip with a middle pair on the DL A330, my wife and I started booking two window seats as well. Not b/c the A330 is bad by any means, but between different IFE content and naps, we didn't end up needing that communication time once airborne.

Just flew the 7CB round trip ATL-LAX and the middle seats are virtually all the same.

Window seats get dual air vents. Middle seats each get a single air vent.

Overhead bins are over the middle seats, unlike the A350.

Here is the only choice you need to make:
If you want your little side table on your right (working on laptop with right hand, or writing with right hand), then choose the odd-numbered middle rows. Even number middle rows will have the table on the left for both seats.

Once you choose a pair of middle seats, you will always get one seat that is up against the suite door but has a larger workspace and a little storage bin underneath. The other seat will be further from the suite door, feel a little more distant from the aisle and open when you are lying flat. But no extended desk and no storage bin.

It's a great seat and a great space. We are flying the suites Xmas day and look forward to decorating it with a small strand of LED Xmas lights.

Any reports on C+ on the refurb -- assume row 30/31 is the best?

Booking soon for my SYD - LAX - RDU flights in a couple months and curious about the seats (though fingers crossed I get an attractive PS upgrade offer). Looks like if I leave as soon as possible (aka Friday), I can snag 31G (which looks to be unlimited legroom) and if I hang around Sydney for an extra day best option appears to be 30H though unclear how much legroom those exit rows C+ seats have.

Also curious how the C+ seats compare to row 44 from a legroom perspective -- when I flew last year on SYD - LAX, it was a no-brainer to take row 44 with the unlimited legroom vs. the C+ seats that had more limited space

What can people tell me about PS seats on the 777? This would be the variant that also has C+ seats as well as D1 suites. It's a 777-200LR according to the seat map on delta.dumb.

I'm looking at row 20 (bulkhead, first row, and apparently just behind some lavatories on each side and a galley in the middle). I assume that these seats have more legroom and of course won't have someone reclining into the space, but are they also bassinet positions? Are there windows at row 20 or just a wall? I'm hesitating between 20B and an aisle further back in the center section, something like 22C (which currently is next to an empty seat, but I expect every PS seat to be filled on a TATL flight in late June, either through advanced sales, FCM-type offers and possibly misguided "upgrades" or with nonrevs at the gate). Are 20B and 20G uncomfortably exposed in the middle of the aisle with not enough wall in front to prevent the seat occupant from constantly being bumped during the flight? Is there so much leg room (infinite?) that folks waiting for the lavatory will tend to congregate in the space? Finally, the two lavatories in front of the PS cabin are dedicated for PS use, right (although realistically I would expect FAs to use them too, but hopefully not a long line of C+ and regular coach passengers)?

@MSPeconomist, I think I have read elsewhere that the PS lavs are open for Y use but can't remember for sure.

I have a 777 flight in PS in about a week and I will attempt to scout all of this if the questions haven't been answered by then. I have not found a lot of FT-level reviews of PS seats anywhere on the internet yet. I had a cheap buyup offer to PS for LAX-SYD, but with 31F as my C+ seat, I waffled for a long time before taking it.
