Delta 777-200ER/LR Conversions to 7HD & 7HB. Pre-mods config is 37J/36W/218Y. For all the ERs and the first LR, post-mods config was initially 28J/48W/220Y (7HD/7HB). The post-mods config for all ERs and LRs is now 28J/48W/90Y+/122Y (7CD/7CB).

Modifications are taking place at SIN and the entry and exit dates are based on SIN time (GMT + 8 hrs). Comfort + installation was done at ATL on all the 7HD>7CD conversions, and on 7106 (7HB>7CB). The remaining 9 LRs had the C + cabins installed at SIN.

I was upgraded on my flight to D1 so I did not have as much time looking at PS as I expected. I was able to do a little bit of scouting but forgot to check the window/bassinet situation.

Row 20 has extra legroom but it's not so much that random people will fill it in. It is less than the legroom in row 30. The bulkhead wall seemed to adequately cover the pairs on the side to prevent constant bumping, but I did not look super closely. Row 30 retains the gigantor legroom of the past, as do the 2 seats in row 31 without a seat in front of them.

Have flexibility to take SYD - LAX on either a Friday or a Saturday in August for a work trip. This is what the availability looks like:

Friday

Saturday

For Friday it seems like seat 31 is a no-brainer and the question is whether PS is that much better if I get a reasonable cash upgrade (the phone quoted me 90k mileage upgrade for PS which is not happening).

For Saturday the question is whether 30H or generic C+ row is better than row 44G on this plane (on the old 77L, the answer was no, 44G was better which is what I flew on this route last October).

New Delta route that begins 2019-12-22: JFK-BOM-JFK: DL will probably use trip 7 LR's on the route. Currently, no DL trip 7's into or out of JFK - just wondering how they plan on incorporating this into their itinerary.
1) Keeping the aircraft continuing onto AMS (international leg), and then return to ATL(international leg).........or
2) JFK to ATL (domestic), to be used on any number of international LR routes out of ATL.
........In some ways, option 2 makes more since (DL is currently using a few LR aircraft to do domestic ATL-LAX for setting up the trip 7 LAX-SYD international route). Option 1 could also work if DL has enough LR aircraft hours to do the JFK-AMS-ATL leg(s) (which would amount to around an extra 20 hours elapsed)................2nd guessing their decision..........WWDD (what will Delta do)..........Any other ideas or ????

What was your impression here ? I’m 6’4 and wavering between 31F and 30J.

It appears that MSP-CDG is losing the 4 class cabin refurb'd trip 7's as of 2019-Oct-25 - according to DL's schedule. It will eventually be changed to a trip 3 (A330-300). Is the downgrade to the 76E (B767-300ER) a tentative place holder or was the route not sustaining the load factor of the trip 7? This route (I seem to remember) was the first refurb'd B777-200ER route, around a year ago.

answering my own question in case it’s of benefit to someone. 31 bulkhead has substantially more legroom than 30. Found out the hard way. It was an uncomfortable 12 hours for my 6’3” self. Almost put my feet on the wall.

Sorry somehow missed your question -- my flight is still about a month away but sounds like 31 is the better way to go

No worries, didn’t realize your flight date. Definitely get Row 31 if looking for bulk head. Maybe you’ll get lucky and C/G will open up.

PS is also remarkably better, but not 90k better. I get offers under 29k miles all the time which is much more reasonable.

Flew the 777 in D1 from LAX to ATL last weekend (DL 2714). There are already issues in D1 (there were something like four suites where the seats did not recline). Does not bode well for this product in the long term if DL can't address it, especially at this price point.

Can anyone comment on the last row of C+ on the update? Considering this for my wife and I, but concerned about proximity to bathrooms. Biggest concern is lighting, I know there is usually a "hallway" light near the bathrooms that doesnt allow that area to be as dark when the lights are down.

I am curious about Delta Airlines flying two B777-200LR's to Tokyo Narita today (August 16th) - one of which is doing the normal flight number (DL295 - N705DN) and another doing DL269 (N709DN). Might tail no. N709DN (a non-refurbed aircraft at this time) be heading to SIN? This early in the summer schedule for "new interior" "4 class interior" "refurbs" ? I am aware that ATL-PVG and ATL-JNB legs (which can get by using only 4 aircraft to cover) are the final 2 routes that will be going to new interiors (probably 7CB's - B777-200LRs) at the end of October. But with 6 a/c still needing the upgrades - Delta is cramming these changes into a small length of time (being quite aggressive in having the finished product completed by then). Is there an actual schedule that DL is trying to keep locked into for these conversions / upgrades ?

Correct on N709DN. It will ferry from NRT>SIN later tomorrow evening for it's 4-Class Mods. I don't know the answer to your second question!

Reading conflicting reports on Row 30. Have this row booked LAX-SYD in a few months. Granted I'm not 6-4 (but am 6-0). Everything I had read to this point indicated there was plenty of legroom but now not so sure?

Flightradar is actually showing N709DN returning to ATL 2 hours after it arrives at NRT:

Don't forget that JFK-BOM is coming on-line in late December and that will require two refurbished 77Ls as well.
