Plus long enough for meal service. They want to work out any links that can come up with a new layout.

I just looked all over the DL internal site and I can't find what routes will be first much less the test routes.

Yes it will be out of DTW but that's all I git which we all already knew.

I even went as far out as next April To see if there was a locked seat map or some other indicator that some of the DTW/TPAC would be swapped over and nothing.

I even checked some OCT/NOV flights out of DTW that were mentioned nothing out of the ordinary...admittedly not an exhaustive search but worth a shot.

I'd say that I would let everyone know when I hear something, but virtually every update I get comes out about an hour after I see someone talking about it here!

The routes where it is expected have 777 loaded but with no C+ being sold.

Interesting. I did check that 28OCT DTW NRT flight and that does appear to be the case.

probably a good bet especially with DL still having resources in NRT if it doesn't go well.

Im sure DL doesn't want the scenario that happened when the FAA grounded all the 787's for the battery issue.

I would guess the test routes will sell PS as C+, so while that helps figure out the first international routes it doesn't help with the domestic test routes.

I would be shocked if the test routes are scheduled yet. They'll take the form of equipment swaps, perhaps a few weeks before departure. I don't think the passengers will mind (especially the first class and C+ passengers!!)

I have an October DTW-NRT-DTW flight, and am half hoping for a swap to fly the new bird, but half not hoping to get my 2nd and last go at a 744.

As a paid C+ customer on this trip, I wonder what would happen if it DID swap.

With regards to practicing the service and familizaring crews with the galleys, will they also serve meals in the PS section on the test routes?

Doubtful unless they fly it on a route that C+ would get a meal. Ie JFK/LAX.

Likely the swap-over is planned specifically for dates/schedule with the placeholder Triple-7. That way they don't have to deal with this problem. If they want/need to drop the 747 early they can place a Triple-7 there and have C+. Where as if they put the a350 the people with paid, or heck even upgraded medallion in C+, they are going to have to place them in PE or they are downgrading people.

I doubt they need the plane to be in the air or have pax on board to test on board service.

It remains to be seen what DL will do with the PS seats on domestic routes. They could very well be treated like domestic F, in which case this would increase upgrade room, and everyone given the same service.

If this is making any regular domestic runs, they will need to figure something out, and it's a pretty nice product to sell as domestic W.

DL sells 1-2-1 flat beds as domestic F every day, which is a pretty nice product. I don't see why W would be any different.

If it's available and on test flights assume it will be 'sold'. Offered upgrades.

Interesting if they do offer domestic upgrades. Which one? If there are 5 diamonds and 5 platinums and a couple get into W and some into F. Would rub people the wrong way probably.

That happens just about every minute of every day. Some elites get upgraded to F, some to W, some don't get upgraded. DL has tie-break formulas to determine who gets what.

On many non-D1, domestic flights with lie-flats, DL has a "surcharge" for the premium cabin seats on the flight. I have to imagine DL can do the same here with the premium economy seats on any domestic runs with the A350, if the A350 makes any domestic runs, and DL can just zero out C+ upgrade inventory on the flight if they wish, and give it away to the C+ upgrade list at the gate.

I'm not saying this is what DL will do, but I do think FT is over-complicating the thought process.
