Let's see if I get to do this on my D1 JFK-LAX flight June 21....

Don't count on it as the routes that are getting meals now (like ATL-HNL) still don’t have this option back yet. All meal selections were made onboard with the FAs taking orders follow the “U.”

What happens when it says "the server experienced an internal error?"
I updated the app, but it's still not working.

So ATL-HNL in Y does have meals now, correct? If so, can you order any special diet items? Thanks.

Delta 1 request meals?

I thought I read some time ago that Delta 1 passenegers could request their meal several days before their flight. We have 2 Delta TATL flights coming up (first time) and wonder if we will be able to do this. THANKS

I think the lead time has varied as they brought this back, but yes, you should be able to pre-order/pre-select when the time comes.

Pre-order D1 SLC to AMS

First time flying D1 and sounds like I picked a bad year to do it (bad year for a lot of things, really, but this woman has been Europe deprived since March 2020!)

I’m flying D1 SLC to MXP via AMS. Check in is in 9 days. Thought I read somewhere that pre-order was available 21 days-24 hours prior, but I imagine with Covid, that timeline is likely no longer accurate.

Anyone have any idea what the lead time is these days? Or any knowledge of the int’l dining/drinks situation in general? I’m finding virtually nothing online re. my particular route (does no one from SLC fly to the EU 😆?) but I guess info on other int’l D1 would be helpful. Cheers!

Thanks! Also a pipe dream, but I’d be delighted if they brought back pre-flight drinks of the non-water variety.

7 days for preorder was my experience as well. Unfortunately, no PDB.

On my ex-US flight, I heard another pax ask about the lack of PDB and the explanation given was something about how duty had already been paid on the alcohol so they weren't allowed to open any of it until after takeoff, for fear of a tax fiasco if the flight was unable to depart for some reason. Sounded like a lot of bologna, which I thought was weird when they could have just said that they haven't brought back PDBs after COVID yet.

This is only true for flights departing other countries on DL. They (even pre CV19) couldn't offer alcohol except what they had paid local taxes on. (Beer/bottle of champagne normally)

5 days prior to takeoff, I got my meal notification (D1 SLC>AMS>MXP):

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...260843a84d.jpg

Honestly not super thrilled with any of the choices. I've seen the short rib on other flights with asparagus and shiitake mushrooms, which would've been my first choice. Still leaning toward Short Ribs OR Sea Bass. Any recos?

Also hoping dessert isn't ice cream out of a paper carton, because yuck. (I feel a little dumb for caring, but this is my first D1 international and it already sounds a little disappointing compared to pre-covid, but this is my belated 50th bday trip to myself, so I want it to be as decent of an experience as it can be under the circumstances, given my route choices and budget.)

Suggest searching the main meal thread, as this one is more about pre-ordering logistics.

I had the sea bass here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delt...l#post33550832

On my flight it was a Haagen-Dazs cup.

I actually like the Sous-vide Chicken the best. Have had it multiple times from multiple airports, all good. If not chicken fan, the bass is great.

Ice cream will most definitely be single serving cup.

Do pre-order meals include all on board options as well, or might you end up missing out on a choice that is offered on-board if you pre-select?
