Delta could serve you dinner in a private dinning room for much less than this so this is never going to happen, and I also don't personally think the private dinning pre-order will happen either. DL offers decent food in the Sky Clubs and meals on board, and I would not hold my breath for something better.

You have got to be kidding. I'm not saying DL is amazing, but you are comparing one of the most highly processed food products available to what DL serves on board in their premium cabins. In your salad example McDonalds is (well, have not eaten there in years, so there's my disclaimer) a pile of iceberg lettuce and processed chicken product reshaped into a breast. In D1 Delta serves real pieces of meat with cooked veggies, fresh salads with a variety of lettuces, etc.

I'm not kidding. You admit you haven't ate at a McDonald's "in years." The chicken breast is 100% chicken breast -- not processed, no hormones. It's really good. As for the salad, it's about the same size and quality as any of the Delta side salads. Only some of the Delta entree salads are better.
I haven't eaten MCD in years either - this is one of the most shocking things I ever heard! We dissected MCD's food in high school science class and we had to identify all the ground up bits that were in chicken nuggets and hamburgers:eek:! |

FWIW, if flying JFK-LHR on Delta you can use the Virgin Clubhouse which does offer a pre-flight dining service that is arguably better than what BA and AF offer. I wish Delta would find a way to expand this to other D1 passengers, but presumably it costs too much and it would certainly require a much larger Virgin lounge.
Also, I think the possibility of a pre-boarding meal (a desire to get one) is more due to the wait that it can take once in flight versus the actual food itself. Gaining an hour or two more of sleep/rest/work could be far more beneficial to many travelers. |
Okay... there are 29 pages in this thread and it devolved into a lesson in statistics and probability. I would love to ready all of them but I am hopeful someone can help with my question. Exactly where do you go to preselect your D1 meal in DL.com? Flying ATL BCN. I'm not seeing it... Thanks in advance.

On routes to Asia you can reserve the meal of the destination country (Japanese meal, Korean meal, etc) but that's it. |

The feature has not yet been rolled out, it seems.

I thought DL recently said they were going to roll it out in D1 on a few test markets. Am I making that up?

This is honestly getting ridiculous. They need to make a decision either way. |

No I heard the same thing. DL hasn't issued any further statements about it.

Perhaps all is ready, but they are holding back on this to use as a salve for our wounds the next time they take something more substantive away from us.

Really though, picking your meals in advance is just a nice to have. It isn't really any kind of a new benefit.

And the benefit to Delta is potentially fewer customers annoyed that their first choice ran out. |
Is SEA-HKG eligible? I thought it was, but I don't see any option online in my reservation for it, so not sure
