It bothers me that all cloth napkins don't have this feature.

I agree, and would use the button hole, except that I rarely wear shirts that have buttons :)

Problem solved. Simple-to-install hook. Place at throat level. The smaller size should be sufficient. :D

I think that creates more problems than it solves :)

I should just sew a button on one of those faux tuxedo t-shirts :D

Why don't more people use the button hole?? It's such a smart and pragmatic idea.

For the same reason more people don't wear bibs.

I've had this happen to me a few times, too. I think most people don't realize it's there.

Count me among the folks who always use it whenever I'm wearing a shirt with buttons. ^^

sounds like a test is soon to be happening or already underway on this for a select few (def not all) D1 flights @:-)

A reader was kind enough to send over some screen shots from after choice. Would love some shots during choices if any FTers can get them and share ;-)

Thanks for sharing, Renes Points! It will be interesting to screen shots of the menu.

Just on a few D1 on flights departing ATL to Europe like AMS. Not all D1 pax will get to pre-select. Apparently feedback will be monitored but why that is even necessary is beyond me....just make pre-order happen!

I have never been able to understand the awe with which some here view the outcomes of each successive marketing venture between DL and some trendy commodity provider.

As long as DL continues to provide real cloth napkins, with the button hole in one corner (a 30+ year tradition), I'll be content with the service items.

As to the theme of the thread... being able to pre-select the meal would be a real boon. I just hope that DL does not run out the program before it is ready for prime time.

Sigh. This is why we can't have nice things.

Maybe DL intends to limit the program to medallion members.

"Throughout the test, customer satisfaction scores and flight attendant feedback as well as operational aspects will be closely monitored. We will share our plans beyond the test period after we review all the results and our go-forward plan has been finalized.”

Translation:

"This is an operational test. We know it's only a good thing for customers, and flight attendants will do whatever they are told."

-----------------

It's borderline offensive to say this is for testing customer satisfaction. There's no question about whether or not this optional feature will be welcomed. And FAs should never be a factor in whether this is implemented. Come on, DL, we're not that stupid.

I hope this might also mean consistent adherence to FEBO domestically, so you know what to expect even if you don't always get your first choice.

Have we ever gotten offical word that FEBO is policy? It seems some FA were trained to use it and others trained in different methods.

I have confirmed with Delta Corp reps (corporate communications folks) that it is and has not changed since implemented in 2009. At least that was the case as of March 2016 when I reached out to them last about FEBO. Source is my blog.

I've also been told by several FAs that it is the proper service procedure. Several times recently an FA has said something to the effect of "and since this is an even-numbered flight I will be taking orders from the front to the back..." so maybe there's been an effort to make it more consistent.
