Wow, I missed that one. Now we need to know what "select fares" are.

What am I missing
What am I missing here? Everyone complains about the dilution of status through things like rollover, partners, etc. and then when DL takes a step to more accurately award DL customers, everyone still complains. If you are truly a DL customer and not simply a customer who finds a way to get rewarded by DL, this should not affect you.
This is a DL loyalty program and the people who should be rewarded for that loyalty are more accurately identified through this program. |
True, but the benefits of those living overseas is pretty small as well. Unless he is flying here those 2 times, and hitting a lot of domestic travel, I don't see any benefit for him to have the status.

MQD Question
I'll cut right to the chase... Most of my travel is for business, so the tickets are paid for with our corporate AMEX as opposed to my personal card. Does anyone know if company-paid travel will be excluded from the new MQD requirement?
Yes, I know it's easy to get a waiver with the SkyMiles AMEX, but I get much more value from my Discover. I do 80k annual spend on that card, but only about 6k of it is with DL for personal travel. My employer MQD would be about 10k for my travel each year, so I would keep my PM status if DL doesn't require those dollars come from a card saved in the SkyMiles profile. If anyone can clarify I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. |

The more I look at it, the easier it is to spend $25k on an Amex. If you charge utilities, groceries, insurance, and taxes to the card, $25k is really easy. There are some charges associated with charging taxes to a credit card, but they are doable if the reward you get from the card spend is good enough.
The only thing that concerns me is that I expect the next announcement will be L, U, T fares get less milage. Not the end of the world. I understand that back when I was a consultnant and flew Y I was a HECK of a lot more profitable for Delta then I am now flying the same route on L, U, T. And the "benefits" aren't markedly different. Yes, I am lower on the upgrade list, but I am still ahead of a GM who spent $1,000 on the same flight... kind of makes not sense. (And it's easy to spend 1,000 on my route. I just tried to book for 2/4. Morning flight is $900.. I am flying into another airport LOL!) |

The new charts are on the site. Substantial MQM devaluations on most non-JV partners.

Oh, and I wonder if it would be possible for Flyertalk to add some violin music for this thread... :D

*A carriers provide nice test cases as to how much people are willing to pay for transparency on partner/codeshare mileage earning. There doesn't seem to be that much indication that folks care much at all.

I thought it was fairly clear in the FAQ, that you will get all of the MQM's rolled over above the tier you qualify for. So if you fly 100k miles but only spend $5k you would be gold with 50k rollover. Your roll over ALL MQM's in addition to status EARNED.

So if yo live overseas, and only fly Delta, the only change for now is not receiving a 50% bonus for M class fares. Is this correct???
|
A little more "Skyteam"-y but did you all see the changes to MQM flying other Skyteam members? It looks like flying anyone but AF/KLM/Alitalia could earn you less than 100%!
Random Sampling: China Eastern All but First/Business full-fare earn 75% or less MQM. Middle Eastern All but full-fare Business earn 75% or less MQM. Aerolineas Argentina All but full-fare Business earn 75% or less MQM. I fly internationally almost exclusively and this is enough to make me switch. I've been wavering between switching for a while as a current United Premier, I think this might be what pushes me over :( |

Because the $12,500 level is so small (and the $25k exemption is so small) I would guess these new restrictions won't bring much change in the amount of DMs nor will they bring me much better chances at an upgrade. |

When I travel with the family I pay for all of the tickets. Will I receivethe MQDs or will they be split among each family member? I don't think my 3 year old should earn any status...
