My ATL-ONT flight in late June (booked in F) had a fantastic crew, but the lasagne was awful and floating in water...ack! I received an email today and 7500 SM.

Terrible FA on a recent RDU-LGA flight in First. No PDBs, no refills, spent most of the flight reading a USA Today in the jumpseat and ignoring us. I wrote Delta an email about it and got 7,000 miles.

Received a $6 voucher upon arrival for F not being catered on a dinner flight. Sub 1500 mile cold dinner was advertised. 757 was not catered due to late aircraft swap.

7/27: CRW-DTW-MKE. CRW-DTW delayed 3 hours for wx, no food vouchers. Arrived in DTW. After 3 gate changes, leave 2 hours late. Again no vouchers. Return on 7/29: MKE-DTW-IND. Notified 3 hours before flight that it was delayed 2 hours. Switch to a MEM connection, arrive in MEM to a flight delayed 4 hours for mx. No updates at gate, had to call DM line for updates, no vouchers. Emailed and got 19,000 miles.

Complained about ramp workers not being ready to meet our already delayed flight with many passengers connecting to the last flights of the night out of DTW. Sat for 10 mins before they could taxi us the last 100 feet in. Then sat another 10 minutes because there was no GA there to bring the JetBridge over (nearly missed my flight). They gave 7,500 miles.
Complained the following week about http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...rtress-fc.html and they gave me 7,500 miles and mailed me a HOOU voucher.
It's not all complaints though. A week prior to the first complaint I sent in a nice compliment to the GA who was a wizard at handling an inbound a/c delay which would have made me miss my connection. No compensation for the compliment, though ;-)

I've had a few MX delays that I've complained about:
Got 11,500 miles for a 5 hour MX delay where I also pointed out that the GA gave no information, and all the screeens in atlanta gave incorrect information.
Got 7,500 miles + $50 TCV for another 5 hour MX delay, but for some reason I still can't find the $50 TCV.
I was pretty annoyed about the first one, because the communications about the situation were so poor -- If they could have kept the computers up-to-date, I could have gone to a skyclub and gotten some work done, but I ended up going back and forth twice, because the screens kept saying "boarding" and having unrealistic times. Eventually I wised up and asked the Skyclub people to help me and call the gate.
I don't think I deserved all those miles and such, but it seems that there's no penalty for asking, and if you ask you'll get them, and if you don't you're leaving it on the table.

About four years ago I was flying Continental IND-EWR when the crew determined that the shrimp they intended to serve over salad had spoiled during an hours long delay. They ended up serving shrimp-less salads and handing out $10 meal vouchers.

DL2125: 7/20 my ATL - BWI flight was cancelled for mechanical problems. I was backed up on the next one, DL1586 which was also delayed several hours for mechanical issues. I finally got to BWI, missed my meeting and what not, and grabbed some crab cakes in the Inner Harbor and flew back home the next AM. I got an email from DL saying "we're sorry blah blah blah...here's 2500 bonus miles." I thought the amount was a touch inadequate considering the situation.

a few weeks ago, my flight from CDG - JFK was cancelled.
I got a letter a week later in the mail apologizing for the cancellation and a comp of 25,000 skymiles. I didn't even ask for this.
Delta screwed up big time with my rescheduled flight. I wrote in to Delta and wound up getting a $250 voucher and 8,000 more skymiles.
Total comp = $250.00 and 32,000 miles. This was a coach class ticket.
Then, the Air France flight I was eventually put on to get back home was overbooked so I volunteered for a flight the next day. I got $400.00 from Air France for the bump.
Total overall comp = $650.00 and 32,000 skymiles.

Three weeks ago LGA-DTW-LAN. LGA was delayed 1.5 hrs because of "lack of ground crew" which caused missing connection and last flight of day (so I thought). Lansing is only 80 miles away so rented a car one-way. halfway to Lansing got email that second flight had been delayed and would have been able to make it.
Called DM line explained the double failure and prevent my return flight from being cancelled. Was given 15,000 miles, was reimbursed the $237 one-way rental fee (check showed up a week later) and have been promised the MQM's from the missing flight (but have not shown up yet).

By reading the above it seems one being high medallion certainly helps for large compensation.
ATL-SEA last weekend we had the "flight attendant who loves the PA" and each time she made one of her 12 PA's it was so loud in our headphones the entire cabin would jump and rip our earphones off; actually pretty comical by the 6th annoucement to watch a ripple effect of people who were asleep jump. I got a $50 TV.
And the inflight WIFI and movies were down.

On previous occasions I have received compensatory miles for minor/annoying issues but for my last issue, I received this:
"Please know we would like to offer consideration in situations such as you described. However, as part of our efforts to streamline our policy for providing compensation to our passengers, we no longer compensate for flight disruptions less than three hours. Also, this includes disruptions to the total duration of the travel. Since we strive to treat all our passengers equally, we must respectfully decline your request for compensation, as the disruption to your travel was less than three hours. I apologize for any disappointment as I am sure that this was not the answer you were expecting."
from Delta....nice.
