Two complaints.
15,000 miles for equipment issue on ATL - SCL 10 hour flight
5,500 miles for "Sky Zone" boarding issues BHM - ATL. Didn't even want the miles, just wanted to make it known the GA's were horrible at calling zones that morning.

Was on a delayed Pinnacle flight, upgraded to F on a CRJ900. Long delay boarding due to mechanical, then another long delay after boarding due to dispatch paperwork.
There were no bottles upon boarding, no PDB, and then no offer of any type of refreshments during the 1+ hour before push back.
Emailed DL, got an email and a snail mail. 12,000 total miles compensation.

3500k miles for loose wiring on the floor in front of me from AGS-ATL. I was more worried it was a safety issue.
3500k miles for a 30 min wait at the gate on a CRJ from MSY-MEM. Really hot on the plane, no AC, and no announcements.
Both required e-mail.
It maybe just me, but I send in comments on all of my flights. It is about 75% compliments, and 25% complaints.

If there was a nonrev in BE, that person should have been told to swap seats with you if you wanted to move, but OPUPs normally are treated on board like paying BE passengers and not given lower priority on meal choice, etc., the way nonrevs are. If this was DUB, there would not have been a crew rest seat in BE if they needed the seats. (If a crew member has been allocated a normal non curtained rest seat, I think they could be asked to sway.) DUB seems to frequently have lots of OPUPs, even of kettles.

NO, an award ticket is considered to be a revenue ticket, which is why I sometimes refer here to tickets paid with miles versus tickets paid with money to emphasize the distinction. Award tickets and upgrades with SWUs or miles are higher in the food chain than OPUPs.

Kinda depends but the difference between "little" and "nothing" is miniscule. For the most part I'd say miles, but if it was a particularly long flight and you have a history of being a non-complainer, you may get a voucher of some sort - also dependant upon how long you've been an elite.

If you include the words AVOD or IFE somewhere in your complaint, that seems to trigger something in the mileage fairy that causes it to shower you with a ridiculous amount of miles.

A couple of years ago, people were reporting something like 20,000 miles for nonfunctioning AVOD in TPAC BE, which I think is really excessive. No sound is not quite as bad in that you can find a movie with subtitles, watch the map, and play games without sound.

I got 2500 pesos for a non-working IFE and non-working power outlet on LAX-SYD. Not exactly generous...but, my iPad was charged before I left and I survived.
