2012 Compensation Thread

In keeping with the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...n-reports.html thread, I figured I'd open one for this year.

Mods - please merge if you want to wait until March 1st.

Me - Received 7,500 Sky Miles after submitting a complaint regarding catering changes in Economy Comfort/Economy on TATL flights.

SEA-ATL on a 757 last Sunday. PTVs in my row (27 ABC) and the row behind me inoperative. The passengers behind me told one of the F/As they couldn't see the safety video and she said "I'll just reset yours when we take off". Reset didn't work. Wrote an email asking if the F/As shouldn't have switched to a manual demonstration, got a form email back with 3,500 miles.

Can we post negative compensation? Had a recent flt where I was #1 on the UG list with one seat remaining. Seemed like a lock but GA said F boarded full. Turns out she was wrong BUT the seat went to a passenger in coach who had an F fare. Somehow they missed that, too.

Told DL to keep the SkyMiles, just give me an explanation. They explained, and took back the waterfall SM's they dumped on me. Fine by me, DL is waaayyy to generous with dishing out miles.

7K miles for not processing SWU til I called in. I did NOT ask for miles, just the issue to be fixed.

59,000 Miles and "a bunch of SkyClub passes" for a J to Y IRROP rebook TPAC from NRT to MSP, that ended up with me going NRT->SEA->MSP->GRR all in Y and getting home 7 hours later.

My father is Gluten intolerant and with a cleared UG, he called ahead and asked for a Gluten-Free meal. At the Gate the GA apologized for not having Gluten-Free meals and issued 5 $50 vouchers for the whole family since we were all traveling together.

Side Note: 2 others were cleared into F as well and also Gluten intolerant, but my father was the only one who requested the special meal

I booked two J award tickets for my in-laws. On their return they were delayed more than two hours leaving AMS, which resulted in missing their connection at ORD. They aren't frequent flyers, so they don't really know the rebooking drill, and the agent booked them into non-direct flights in Y, ultimately arriving over six hours after originally scheduled (and in Y).

I wrote to Delta and they responded with a form letter apologizing for the delay, and offering a $250 voucher for each of them.

It seems like this is consistent with what others have received for delays, so my question for the collective wisdom is do I continue to pursue the issue of the involuntary downgrade or let it stand?

I got 5,000 miles (without asking for them) when complaining that a SkyPriority desk agent at BOS went over to use the kiosk to check me in rather than doing it on her system. Wasn't going to complain, but then I got a survey from DL asking about my experience with the kiosk and figured I'd rather have a CSR read my message than the outsourced survey people.

7000 miles for MX out of BOS earlier this month that caused me to barely miss a connection in ATL. Was protected by the GA in BOS on the next flight. Arrived at destination 3hrs late.

$200 travel voucher for 2 combined complaints: arrival in Seattle from Narita it took 55 minutes for bags to be delivered and priority bags came off 10 minutes later not first,; plus on the flight from SEA-MSP I bought a fresh sandwich which I had to pay for and used drink coupons for a few drinks, but then my credit card was charged for the fresh sandwich PLUS another drink which they never gave me a receipt for.

Well, I thought that $200 was quite generous. and they will refund that $5 as well if I ever get around to sending them the Visa card details. Pretty cool.

5000 miles for a 5 hour mechanical delay. I didn't ask for a reply to my e-mail. I just sent a note indicating that 5 out of my last 7 flights were delayed multiple hours due to mechanical issues and it was becoming frustrating. (And I didn't ask for, or receive compensation for any of those)

And you really think one person telling them that is going to make a difference?

A phrase involving spite, nose and face comes to mind

No, nor do I believe that 10 people saying something will make a difference, not even a hundred. DL -- and all airlines -- care about stockholder return, management, and employees far more than they will ever care about passengers, much less elites. We are at the bottom of their food chain and I accept it. Maybe don't like it but accept it.

7500 miles for complaints about the worst TATL FA crews I have ever had out of ATL....and maybe they also gave me the miles because I complimented them on the truly excellent FAs on the flight back 3 days later.

Did you ask for ECV? They almost always only give miles.
