Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)

Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.
Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.
When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.
If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.
Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.
Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

- Applied for business card 5/9 - Pending (not going to call recon probably) (edit) - Approved 5/11

Updated - approved for business.
Hard to say if I got approved based on my short cycle time due to platinum status, or just got lucky.

With the above, I would guess that even if you cancel CC, but your companion cert expiration is still 10 months ahead in future, then your cert is still valid despite the CC no longer in existence?

People can do sketchy stuff any time you do business on craigslist, that's why you meet in a public space.
I do see them on sale on CL all the time and I know this is how they do business.

I just applied for a new Alaska Airlines business credit card (closed an Alaska business card 6+ months ago). Received a pending message, called recon, they wanted 2 years of personal and business tax returns to approve the card. I explained I wasn't going to be sending in 2 years worth of personal and business tax returns for a credit card, he said he would try to push it through without those. Had recently been approved for a personal Alaska card. Anyone else been asked for 2 years of personal and business tax returns for an Alaska business credit card????

Have you been in business 2+ years? Did you say "2" (or more) when asked years in business?
Those of us who don't have a real business would (hopefully) never say we've been in business 2 years or even 1 year (0 is much better), so I don't see why they would ask the same thing of us.
The pattern seems to be that they ask questions based on your answers. Tell them you've been in business for a while, and they may ask for documents that prove that (as in your example). Tell them the business has a its own name and/or that the business has its own mailing address, and they may ask for documents that prove that (such as utility statements in the business name / at the business address).
If you don't want the hassle of getting asked things like that, consider (gasp) pretending you don't have a real business (but that's you're pretending to the bank that you do!), and answering the questions that way: business name is your name, business address is your address, business phone is your phone, 0 years in business, $0 annual business income to date, 1 employee (you), sole proprietor. Then there's not much in the way of hard-to-supply documentation that they can ask for, is there?
Had the exact same experience -
Adding a strange DP here – Just applied for the Alaska Business Card, and got a pending status.
I called the reconsideration line, and they said the rep said the bank needs to verify ownership and requires the articles of incorporation, and two years of tax history (biz+personal), as in tax returns for the company.
He said that people are randomly selected for this process.
Has anyone else had such an invasive request by Bank of America? It reminds me of the AMEX financial review but only before you get the card.
What would anyone recommend at this stage? Best to reapply with different info or lay low for a bit?

Thanks for the DP. I wonder if that "random selection" takes place at the time of application or human involvement. Given the uncertainty, perhaps it's better to not call and let the pending status resolve itself.Originally Posted by MickeyD456

Seems like a hassle. I have a legitimate sole prop which has been in business for over ten years. I have business credit cards from Chase, Amex and Citi for said business. Wouldn't they be able to see that somehow? I understand those cards don't show on my personal credit but wouldn't my business have some sort of credit history by this point. I can tell you if BoA started to demand documentation from me I'd just tell them to shove off and be done with it. I want a Alaska airlines business card but I'm not about to play games with BoA. No other lender gives me a hard time about tax returns etc. I use my home address as the business address because Chase did give me a hard time about the address and wanting to see the lease when I gave them my office address. Since then I always use my home office address.Originally Posted by sdsearch

Other banks can be just as picky, and several also require tax forms, business documents, etc. So just because you've avoided that in the past does not mean that it isn't a thing.

I never said it wasn't a thing. Just that with every lender I have dealt with I didn't have to go through giving tax returns.Originally Posted by Superorb

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the companion certificate in your account once you get the card? I am planning a trip to Hawaii the end of June and wanted to see it I applied for the card now if I would get the companion ticket in time.
