Does anyone know if the free check in baggage privileges get immediately revoked, the moment you cancel your AS Personal or Biz card?

I presume so, but I am curious to know whether anyone got "grace period" (bc AS didnt realized you already cancel your card when you check in for flight).

To be honest, of all the times I take AS flights, I was never asked once to show my AS CC to qualify for free check in baggage. I assume it is because this information somehow shows up in my AS FF account? This has happen many times even though I didnt use my AS CC to pay for that specific flight (e.g., during corporate travels)

Am trying to see how to optimize timing of canceling CC vs time to apply again (with no guarantee of receiving another AS CC due to the BOA clamp down these days), with my upcoming AS flights

Thanks

Quote: Unrelated: My wife canceled her card about two weeks ago to avoid the AF. Was too late and it already posted, along with the companion code. Called today to reopen the account since the AF was already charged. Rep couldn't do it (no surprise) so reapplied. Approved instantly, card limit was less than first but enough for Signature. She wasn't trying to churn it, just annoyed with the AF so credit limit wasn't reduced on the first card before closing.
But if reapplied, doesn't she get yet another AF a month or so from now (the first year AF for the new card)? :confvsed: Or did the rep agree the waive the AF for a re-application?

Yes, she does get hit with another AF but did the reapplication through the dummy booking link so $100 statement credit - 2x $75 AF = $50 net out of pocket + 2 companion codes including one of the promotional buy one ticket/get one free.

I'm on a tight schedule where I really need these alaska miles for a redemption. I am receiving my Alaska airlines card tomorrow and will be able to make the spend requirement in one purchase. The statement cut date is not for another month. Does anyone know if it is possible to call BoA and get them to expedite the posting of the bonus points once all your charges meeting the spend requirement have cleared?

Mixed experience:
- Been churning alaska cards for years - have had over 10, opening personal and business every 6 months or so
- Am Platinum privilege or what not
- Closed my only bus and personal cards (after 11 months) on 5/1/17 (others were closed earlier in the year)
- Applied for personal card 5/9 - insta approved with $21K limit
- Applied for business card 5/9 - Pending (not going to call recon probably) (edit) - Approved 5/11

Wife called to lower CL to $500 from $5,00. Agent said that anything lower than $5k would trigger an account audit and the card would be downgraded to a non-signature card. Lowered anyways.

I lowered mine to $500 a few weeks ago and it is still a signature card.

If you have already received the bonus, what's the drawback if it's not a signature card anymore?

No more annual companion code maybe?

No drawback, I just found it funny that agents try to scare you into keeping things how they are.

Normally people combine pulls by applying for personal + biz (using the social). Can 3 cards be achieved potentially with personal + biz (social) + EIN?

Depends whether the Personal and Biz CC pull from same CB or not. It didnt for me so it's 2 HP whether I do it on same day or diff day

As far as I could tell, BOA Personal and Biz CC department are quite mutually-exclusive from each other. Even on normal CC matters like calling up CSR, they need to transfer to one another - cannot talk to the same person on both CC types matters

Do you think I could get through 3 apps though? This would be their first BoA cards. I know they're cracking down but I've never seen a DP of one biz for social and another with an EIN then a personal.

I've never heard of anyone trying that either. If you decide to go for it be sure to report back here. I would be willing to bet that you could get the personal and first biz card approved easily, but a 3rd card would likely take some talking to a recon agent.

BOA has it out for me on Alaska cards recently. Denied in June, denied in November, and denied this week for another Alaska. I don't have any open right now but have received 5 in the past.

When do the bonus points post? I've hit the minimum spend; will they post after I pay the annual fee?
