Quote: Let me see if I'm following. BoA won't "issue the card online", but will show you the full card number in your account, without expiration date and (I'm guessing) without the code?
Yup. 100% correct. I "activated" my card a few minutes after I was approved, you don't need the CVV2 or expiration date, just a simple click. Unfortunately, to add the card to your digital wallet, you need to 3 digit code and expiration date.

Shrug, just be happy there's some random Internet stranger telling you how the system works.

Quote: I'll call tomorrow to add a DP, but appears to be true. I just got auto-declined.

My history is:

Personal - opened Jan 2024
Biz #1 - opened Mar 2023, closed Mar 2024
Biz #2 (using EIN, different biz name, and different phone #) - opened Aug 2022, close Aug 2023
So I called the recon numbers, and seems like they no longer even give any specific approval rules. Just the "too many inquiries with us" reply and said to try again in few months.

I can try again after Aug this year once one of the biz cards will fall over 24 mo limit.

CS reps have been known to make up rules on the fly so "the new limitation of 2 Alaska Airlines cards per 24 months from approval date" quoted above may be bogus. We'll need a lot more DP to know for sure. Let us know what happens when you apply in Aug.

I'll try after August, since I have a solid Alaska balance and with their devaluations, haven't been using nearly as much. But I'm definitely not getting approved like I used to so something has changed. And I don't even do any serious. Outside of the past Alaska cards, I maybe got 2 others in the last 2 years.

Applying for BofA Alaska card while overseas - activation question
Have any of you recently applied for a BofA Alaska personal card (or any other BofA card) while living overseas?

My most recent BofA card (have since been closed) was the Premium Rewards that was approved in 2021 when I was overseas.
When I tried activating the card online, they wanted to send an OTP to my US number which I can't receive; however, all was solved after calling them and correctly answering security questions (they sent an authorization code to my e-mail instead). Is this still the current procedure?

I'm planning to add an AU who will be meeting the minimum spend while he is in the US. For personal cards, does BofA assign the same or different card number for the AU?

I just applied for the 75K Alaska miles after $3K spend in 90 days offer (annual fee $95) outside the US without using a VPN.
My application went from pending to declined in a few minutes.

I rang (877) 261-3664 to enquire why. The rep transferred me to the fraud dept at (888) 230-6262. They just needed to confirm my address and instantly approved me.

"Alaska Airlines, Inc.

Congratulations, your credit card application has been approved!

You will receive your credit card within 7-10 days and the Welcome Package within 10 to 14 days at the address you provided."

Does the card come in a plain white envelope?

Just curious if you tried again as you mentioned (and if you did what the result was) as I'm considering trying to get a second personal card (I currently hold one that I've had for several years)... it would be great if you could provide a DP, thank you
