Read post 844 for tips on being approved for the business card.
It may be easier to get approved for a new business with 0 years and $0 gross income.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

Business card Recon Line:
April 2024: BOA Biz Recon (Small Biz Lending, Credit Analyst) 888-782-7717, 888-569-4439 (M-F 8am-7pm EST), both answered by live human in 2-4 minutes. (Both numbers confirmed multiple times in the past 2-3 days.)
866-695-6598 (8-7pm EST M-F)
Biz card status line: 888 663 6262 (not working)
Biz Card credit analyst line: 888-782-7717
Biz card expedited shipping: wait 24 hours after approval for a card number to generate then call 800-901-9830 and a person will answer. If 1st Rep says "no" ask him/her to ck. with a supervisor. This worked for me.

Credit Inquiries
Credit Inquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Inquiries for business cards come from FIA.
Credit bureaus usually merge inquiries from the same requester made on the same day.
Inquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

Does one have to call BoA to lower a card's credit limit?
Yes, there is no longer any way to contact BOA online. Phone is the only method currently.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Can you send a secure message through your account online?
No. BOA has removed the secure message functionality, even for Preferred members. The only way to contact BOA now is to call them.

Can I apply for another personal Alaska card if I have one open already?
Some people still can, but these days many people get denied. If you don't want to risk getting denied, it's probably better if you close any existing personal Alaska cards before applying for another one. But be sure to lower credit limit as low as possible at least a few business days before you close the card (though the earlier you can do it the better), because credit limit that's left on the card when you close it stays unavailable to new card applications for a year or more (while credit limit that's lowered as a separate step becomes available to new card applications much sooner)!

True, if B/A only goes by opened accounts, but I'm guessing they also look at HPs, which will show up for Bus cards. With AMEX being the exception, since we've gotten AMEX Bus cards that neither show up as opened accounts nor as a HP; Blue for Business was one.

DL and SPG business cards do generate HPs based on our experiences. Probably only AMEX in-house cards would not generated HP because you often logged in to apply so you are a known entity to AMEX.

No, they don't look at (all() HPs.

What the do look at is HPs on the credit bureau they pulled. Not HPs on other credit bureaus!

HPs and opened accounts are not the same thing. Some banks do HPs for credit line increase requests too. OTOH, as you mentioned Amex doesn't always do HPs (and it's not just for business cards) for existing customers.

Meanwhile, HPs are scattered among all 3 bureaus (though not at all evenly), since every app generates an HP on only one of the 3 bureaus, while opened (personal) accounts show up on all 3 bureaus.

And thus it's impossible in general to compare HPs to opened accounts, since the count comparison may be very different from one bureau to the next. While the opened accounts count should be the same on every bureau.

Well, the probelm is that if one person says "I got approved with N/24" and they counted all cards, and another person says "I got deneid with N/24" and they counted only what the credit bureau reports (but neither person explains what they were counting), people are going to assume those counts can be compared when they actually can't be compared.

So for your personal purposes (or for bragging purposes), it's fine to count all cards. But I would suggest when you make an approval/denial datapoint, you explain what data you're providing (not just an ambiguous number) so that it can be evaluated by others. Otherwise, what's the point of including such ambiguous information in a datapoint?

Curious about anyone's thoughts on my situation. Currently have 3 BOA cards - Merrill, Spirit and Alaska Biz. Would like to apply for another Alaska Biz (trying to get under 5/24 so the personal isn't an option for now). Current Biz was opened over a year ago (Spirit and Merrill are both as old or older as well). My current Alaska Biz is under an actual business I created (for the purpose of applying for business cards, but it still has its own EIN number, etc...). My questions are this:

1. What are my chances of getting approved for a 2nd Biz card? Anything I should do to improve those chances?
2. Would my chances improve if I just applied for the 2nd Biz card under my own name, SSN, etc... instead of my actual 'business'.

Thanks for any info.

Some people can only have one AS business card at a time. We can't tell if you're one of those or not.

With that in mind:

Your chances are greater if you lower the credit limit on your current business card as low as you can, wait a few days to confirm it's lowered online, cancel your current business card, wait a while, then apply for the new business card.

Also, be prepared to open a $1500 CD at BofA if that's what they ask you to do to open a business card (with a $1500 credit limit). They've asked that of some people, and we can't rule out that they won't ask it of you, so be prepared for it in case it happens. Remember, there's no problem getting to 99.99% utilization on a BofA business card, since the card doesn't report to EQ/EX/TU. So in the sense that you'd want to stay below 30% of utilization on a personal card (for credit score reasons), a business CL of $1500 is comparable to about a $5000 CL on a personal card.

Does this rule applied for regular AS card? I have the AS card last year and was close in July 17. Can I apply now and eligible to get bonus miles?

I'm not sure what you mean by "this rule", and I presume that you mean "personal" card when you say "regular".

The fact that you want to reduce credit limits as much as possible before you close applies to all BofA cards.

The fact that they are likely to deny you if you still have the same card open, that applies to both personal and business BofA cards (but is not an absolute, you'll find exception occasionally, but OTOH you can't count on yourself being an exception).

The 1500 CD only applies to business cards.

OTOH, no matter what CL you get on the business card, you qualify for the 30k bonus. But if you get a CL less than $5k on the personal card, you don't qualify for the 30k bonus (only for a tiny tiny bonus of a couple thousand miles).

So the rules are quite different.

So yes you can apply now to get some bonus miles, but whether you get 30k or just 2.5k, that you need to educate yourself on first.

How long would you say 'wait a while' should be?
