Simple solution - put yours in the bin above your row and gate check the offenders'

How about the ones who bring their wheeled carry-on bag, computer bag, over stuffed shopping bag (infamous on flights out of mco) and their guitar. And then start shifting and reorganizing other bags so they can keep all their bags in one bin. I have seen people take bags out of the ABC side and shift them over to the DEF side to make room for their stuff.

I witness this behavior fairly often and it's on par with the so called "gate lice". Multiple times during elite boarding I'll get on board and see people back in the exit rows and yet somehow, the bins over the bulkheads are full (even though one is seated there)

How it makes deplaning faster, I have no idea.

As does co.com and the recorded messages one hears while on hold with the elite line.

It does not - it is just pure laziness on the part of those who don't want to carry their bags back to the exit row.

In Oz (and other countries I travel to) airlines enforce carry-on limits which are more restrictive than US airlines in the first place.

Having just come back from Brazil, I experienced how TAM does carry ons. Tam has a standard bag limit on size, but on weight, if your carry-on weighs more than 5 Kg, it goes in checked baggage. They also had plastic use once locks to lock the luggage that was going into checked luggage. It was a very efficient system. Furthermore, they managed to feed everyone on a fully packed A320 (no F class) a hot sandwich and a drink in a 53 minute flight. It was impressive to say the least.

Were you fortunate enough to try the TAM tapir sandwhich?

LOL. I had a sandwhich on TAM that looked a bit like a calzone and contained melted white cheese and some sort of mystery meat that I could only assume was tapir. That and the Guarana soft drink they serve are a great pairing.

Bingo. I guess I had a tapir. Whatever it was, it was hot, good and a surprise given the flight was only 50 minutes.

The tapir sandwhich served by TAM is in a league of its own, however.

I'm in IAH now having just flown from LAS. Same situation - couple puts bags at row 20 (753) over empty seats but they were seated back at row 32. Fortunately FA was there and told them plenty of space where they are sitting.

Just rude of people to do that.

With that in mind, I'd like to comment that I don't think every time something strikes you, you need to do a search to bump the original related thread - particularly on "conversational" topics rather than "FAQ" topics.

I appreciate the higher limits at CO because there are times when I have to travel with slightly oversized carryons - either my photo backpack and some non-briefcase item or leis from Hawaii or fiance's wedding dress or some other such nonsense.
I agree with your comment about behaving sensibly and courteously. As far as doing a search before opening a thread, I disagree. The OP opened an interesting thread and I do not feel he has any obligation to search first for related previous discussions. I also generally agree with CAL's position of not strictly enforcing the limits.

That being said, I agree with the overwhelming majority who abhore the practices of coach passengers violating the F/C space. Recently, I said out loud, "Look, that woman put her bags in the F/C overhead and took two pillows." My wife, seated next to me in 3D, had a fit.

In case someone had the wrong idea, we check maximum and carry on minimum.

Jack
