I was in FC couple of years ago on a CO flight from SFO-IAH, stowed my bag in the overhead and then got engrossed in a book waiting for departure. A few minutes later, I saw my bag in the aisle by my feet. I had not even noticed when it happened, but someone across the aisle took my bag out so they could stow theirs!

An FA saw it at the same time I did and convinced the offending party to stow one of his bags under the seat in front of him and my bag made it back into the locker overhead. He was a bit perturbed about losing legroom....

Just rude of people to do that.
That happened to me on a LAS-EWR Flight.

My fiance and I were in the exit row D&E seats, the guy in front of us is in the F seat in our row his SO, is in the B seat one row behind, he loads ALL FOUR of their carryons in the bin above him (it was a 752 and the row across had the raft, even though the bin above his GFs seat was COMPLETELY empty), he fills the entire bin, where we just had one carryon. He could have moved one bag to where his GF was seated, what was worse he want someone to SWITCH with him so he could sit next to his GF IN THE OTHER ROW....when I kind of gave him a look of "you schmuck, why did you monoplize an entire overhead for you when YOU don't even want to sit there?" He then offered to put my bag OVER his row and hand it to me when we get off (he did).

I thought it was gloriously stupid also (just MOVE one of YOUR bags...) But I wasn't in the mood to fight and he did follow up on his offer.

But I agree those "honky-tonk" flights (LAS, MCO, etc.) have a higher percent of these knuckleheads.

The worst part is that I noticed this guy's BP in the gate area and I was trying to nudge my fiancee ahead of him because I wanted to get first crack at the the bin, of course she didn't want to be pushy...and I knew we were going to get punished for it before we even got on the plane! The funny thing was his BP has NO ELITE STATUS, but his GF's pass had Plat Elite and she said NOTHING about how he was doing things...you figured she would KNOW better.

Another thing I wish CO would enforce:

If you have 2 bags, one of them goes under the seat in front of you! Want more legroom? Then check your other bag!

Of course if the flight is empty this doesn't need to be enforced, but it's absurd when people bring 2 or even 3 bags and hog all the overhead space, and then the poor schmuck who gets on later with one small bag has to gate-check it.

Elites are among the worst offenders I think.

No, no guys! I said that the OP *did not* need to do a search because his thread was conversational rather than a repeated question of fact. It's some other guy (SOG) who wants everyone to do a search, not me!

Sorry! I was following the leader and looking for the same alias, instead of reading the messages!

On my AUS-IAH flight yesterday, a late-arriving passenger made herself the Overhead Police - she started pulling all of the smaller items out of the overheads she wanted to use and forcing people to take them back. This caused some harsh words and eventually required FA intervention. While I think that some of the items should have been stowed under a seat... it was definitely not a passenger's place to make this decision.

I only travel with a laptop backpack and a small tote, and it fits under most seats. Thanks to all of the giant rollerbags, I am usually stuck with it under my seat because it's smaller. On longer flights, I'm tempted to switch to a larger bag, just so I have a "right" to space in the overhead bins... and to have some place to put my feet for several hours.

On a related note, I just flew from EWR-SFO the other day with an obviously mentally ill woman in 1E. She expected the FAs to find room for her two large carry-ons, and she was very upset that there was no overhead space available, and that there was no storage space under the seats in her row. She also did not want to put her bags anywhere besides the space directly over her row as she felt that that space "belonged" to the first row, so she was asking all FC passengers whose items were there and to move them. It was causing quite a scene. Then she complained to the FA that she didn't feel comfortable sitting without her bags, asked the FA if they could hold the beverages she brought on board for her (which she had them dispose of, practically untouched, right after takeoff anyway), and also asked if there was another seat available in FC in another row so she could move. What a freak.

Last Thursday night: A woman who brought on a huge shopping bag, purse, briefcase and rollaboard not only complained about no overhead space but also cut her toenails during the flight. As Russell (Bill Cosby's little brother in his comedy act) would have said, "Strictly N. C. No class."

Bag size...

I agree tote your bags and keep them above your seats...I do and it's nice if I need something not to bother other pax.

The measuring bins are ridiculous...I have a bag the measures within the guidelines 45 linear inches but is wider and shorter so it looks bigger, still fits in the overhead bin, but wouldn't fit in one of those metal contraptions!

TSA guidelines are linear inches, correct me if I am wrong!

And clipping nails on board...definitely NO CLASS!!! I would have had a fit!

Is this a trend? I've noticed it a few times and it's beyond gross and rude. Oh, and a special thanks to my FC seat mate this morning who sneezed on my arm - not to worry, I think I managed to wash all the cooties off

Why dont these people just stick with SouthWest?
Moving bags, poaching F seats, clipping toenails, coughing and sneazing on people. Some people are just disgusting
