With that in mind, I'd like to comment that I don't think every time something strikes you, you need to do a search to bump the original related thread - particularly on "conversational" topics rather than "FAQ" topics.

I appreciate the higher limits at CO because there are times when I have to travel with slightly oversized carryons - either my photo backpack and some non-briefcase item or leis from Hawaii or fiance's wedding dress or some other such nonsense.
I agree with your comment about behaving sensibly and courteously. As far as doing a search before opening a thread, I disagree. The OP opened an interesting thread and I do not feel he has any obligation to search first for related previous discussions. I also generally agree with CAL's position of not strictly enforcing the limits.

That being said, I agree with the overwhelming majority who abhore the practices of coach passengers violating the F/C space. Recently, I said out loud, "Look, that woman put her bags in the F/C overhead and took two pillows." My wife, seated next to me in 3D, had a fit.

In case someone had the wrong idea, we check maximum and carry on minimum.
