If you're gunning for that kind of thing, then sure, bad idea. But for a relatively normal same-day domestic run, I don't think the booking source matters that much. If your day of segments goes pear-shaped, and UA says that they won't touch your ticket solely because an agent issued it, that's extremely poor form. Then again, this is the same airline that is attempting to pass their merchant fees onto travel agents.

Most airlines will not touch a TA issued ticket until travel starts. That's normal practice.

I have yet to find someone who has successfully gotten a reroute via NRT on a domestic itin. |

So far the best i've done with reschedules is changing my MSP-ORD-LAX-SEA-GEG to MSP-ORD-LAX-DEN-GEG. the agent was confused by the backtracking, until I explained why. |

No less than 11,000 sheets of paper later, we are closed on the house. Now we wait for the seller to sign her part. Once that comes back (likely tomorrow) the loan funds and we get keys. And I also discovered that even though we bought the house in 2010 we can get the $8,000 first time home buyer credit on our 2009 tax return.
If anyone needs me, I'll be out dancing in the streets. :D:D:cool::D:D |

The anti-agent vibes are not normally meant in humor on FT. Those who know me know it's even more of a raw nerve than stupidity and over-entitled bratty behavior.
The fact that an airline won't touch a TA issued ticket is normal practice and some in the box have mentioned wanting to take advantage of the flexibility that schedule changes bring. It would be awkward for your mom to issue a tix and have a FT'er trying to do a UA-style reroute, then you're likely to have two unhappy parties. |
