Though my comment wasn't anti-agent at all.
The fact that an airline won't touch a TA issued ticket is normal practice and some in the box have mentioned wanting to take advantage of the flexibility that schedule changes bring. It would be awkward for your mom to issue a tix and have a FT'er trying to do a UA-style reroute, then you're likely to have two unhappy parties. I wouldn't want to put a Boxer in a bad spot, but I would like to help keep my mother afloat. |

I don't see anywhere in that release anything about the funky Thompson cozy suite seats that DL was suppose to use. I guess that is DOA. Not surprised. :-: |

I know it wasn't anti-agent, but my definition of anti-agent is probably an abnormally wide one thanks in no small part to certain idiots on FT, like the guy who posted that he was ending a long relationship with the same agent because the agent booked something in a 50% EQM bucket. He had no instructions to the contrary in the profile that the agent kept on him.

UA will absolutely help you in the middle of transit if something goes wrong on a TA issued tix. It's just pre-departure that they won't touch it. |

 I don't think they're just touching them, they're rubbing them with $100 bills. I've heard that works. |

Ironically enough for someone as accident-prone as I am, I have never gotten "really" hurt (blood, stitches, broken things) in anything other than a completely sober state. (knock on wood) Of course, in one case the other party had had more than enough for both of us...

Yay! Yes, this idea is SPECIFICALLY aimed at the beginners/re-beginners. I think i'm going to give that a shot to try and get back into the routine. |
I hereby declare today General Member Appreciation Day.

Well, people are stupid, you know this and shouldn't be surprised by this. The flip side, sure the idiot is no longer using an agent, but if he was pissed off by that, he likely wasn't a great customer and thus not worth it. Sometimes you just have to let some business go in an order to maintain your own sanity and serve the people who do respect you.

And I wasn't implying that you were. The UA reroutes to get talked about in awe at times and it was only fair to point that out.

No implication taken. ^ Besides, if there is a pre-departure schedule change that you want to take advantage of and the schedule change you want is within the rules, that's what the agent is there for. With commission long dead, the service fee buys you the ability to edit the ticket as needed. When an agent logs on to the GDS in the morning, there is a list of items that have changed since their last login. Among them are schedule changes. Good agents make the call to alert the client and don't wait to get the call.
There are times that UA will violate it's own rules in reroutes so that wouldn't be an option and I'd hate to see your mom get hit with a debit memo. |

A 06:00am flight is fine, as long as you stay out at a EuroTrash Disco until around 03:30am, then high-tail it to the airport, still tipsy. :-:
