I enjoy the 5:45 am flights out of LGA for now. Once I move I don't think they will be possible unless I crash near the airport.

One should not be up at such an unholy hour. :)

She surely could, provided she had the booking details page from ITA so she can plug in the exact segments that you want. She charges a booking fee, but IMHO her fee is well worth the avoidance of .bomb. Booking MRs with my mother would be very much appreciated, especially if they involve any segments on CO.

Morning, Box.

Not to take anything away from your mom, if you book it through her and not .bomb, how will you get rerouted via NRT when they issue a schedule change?

UA wont touch a tix issued by an agent and I doubt an agent could get away with the things the UA agents can.

Morning, Box.

Whew...yesterday was fairly crazed at work, didn't really sit down all day except at the piano, so there was a lot of catching up to do last night. I did finally go see Avatar, also - enjoyable, visually lovely, but not sure why it became (as of yesterday) the #1 movie of all time...

Big multi-quote coming up...

I think my total on last weekend's MR was a paltry 9 in 8 airports (PDX = too late in the evening; EWR = by myself so no access).
JFK RCC
SFO RCC
SEA RCC
SEA PC
ORD RCC x 2
IAD RCC
IAD LH
SEA PC again

:( let me know what y'all come up with. And hopefully the cool events will continue post-February 20, and not always on Mondays.

I had some haggis with my dad in EDI about 10 years ago, and he also made the scrapple comparisons, IIRC. I remember enjoying it in that "interesting" way.

I was in 9B the other weekend. Should post a picture of my toes and the distance to the next seat. It's kind of ridiculous. :D

Lucky you!! Brituchenite and I didn't have nearly as much luck with that flight on our days...packed like a sardine can. It felt like the seats were smaller than normal!

I've been on that 5:45 LGA-IAH flight...and was also with gbryan84 and his wife! I can't remember what time I had to get up to drive from central NJ, but that trip definitely put the DAY (i.e. almost 24 hrs) in "same-day turn."

Wow. That's one travel experience I have never yet had. Glad to keep it that way.

^ Awesome. One of my friends likes to speak about her weight loss in "sticks of butter" (i.e. 10 pounds = 40 sticks of butter, etc.) :p

And on that note, I guess I should be off to the gym. Once a year we have a surprise day off from school (the "headmaster's holiday") and that would be today. Of course, there's still rehearsal this afternoon so it's not a real holiday (as in, no one needs to actually come in) but I'll take what I can get. OK, how many errands can I check off the list before 3:30...

No kidding. :-:

I very much enjoy the 530-ish flight to IAH and if necessary, that 6-ish RJ to CLE. I'm all about getting up early and getting to the destination to maximize the time there.

Having said that, the L fare for this upcoming SJC trip was only showing available on the noon IAH flight, so I dealt with it. Taking a flight to leave home as late as noon is anathema to me.

A 06:00am flight is fine, as long as you stay out at a EuroTrash Disco until around 03:30am, then high-tail it to the airport, still tipsy. :-:

My senior year in college I ended up with a couple broken toes from dropping a similarly weighted bowling ball on my foot. Not particularly sober that night, I'm sure you're shocked to learn. ;)

On a related note, I read some sort of motivational tip a while ago that said "don't just resolve to get in shape...sign up for a specific date to do something." I know lots of you are marathon types and this is not even close to your league, but...any boxers between NYC and Philly interested in finding a 5K somewhere in our neck of the woods? Maybe in April or May?

Possibly, i'm thinking of attempting to run again after years of not doing it.

If you're gunning for that kind of thing, then sure, bad idea. But for a relatively normal same-day domestic run, I don't think the booking source matters that much. If your day of segments goes pear-shaped, and UA says that they won't touch your ticket solely because an agent issued it, that's extremely poor form. Then again, this is the same airline that is attempting to pass their merchant fees onto travel agents.

See, I prefer to fly out the night before. That way I wake up in my destination.

I think it's recent as of a week or two ago. There is a thread in the DL forum that addresses the move if you are inclined to wade into it.

^ I have learned to do this after much  experience. Now I just have to teach myself to fly out early if weather is coming.

I inclined myself to wade, and about five posts in I regretted doing so.

I'm going to regret missing that trip, aren't I?

I wasn't going to say it. My mother taught me that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. :D
