Troubling, no doubt. However, it's a limited sample, and my recent experiences (Westin Rotterdam, W Istanbul, Hotel Kämp, Sheraton Stockholm, W Chicago City Center) all resulted in very nice upgrades and service (with the exception of a minor billing issue at W Chicago for a mini-bar item I didn't use). I'm not sure I agree that there has been some sort of race to the bottom across SPG properties. I'm willing to chalk Westin Tampa to new property with :rolleyes: management and staff training. I'll just add it to my (relatively small) list of hotels to avoid.

You missed this year's large-scale Hockey Do. The Hockey Do is made possible by offering to Teh Box the discounted nonprofit group ticket offer I get to Devils games for the one annual Rotary group that my mother and I put together. Any other FTer hockey this season would be at the retail seat price.

Yeah, Hilton still excels in terms of the quality of their lower-/mid-tier properties and their number of locations. While I like Marriott's higher end stuff, Hampton Inn beats the heck out of Fairfield, and I still prefer Hilton Garden Inn to Courtyard.
