My one aLoft experience was very positive but not generalizable ...

Same here, stayed at the Aloft in CLT, very nice, but only one experience so hard to extrapolate.

You could build a SCADA system in your home no?

A little excessive, no? I could add moisture sensors and such to protect structural integrity but I did have the cell phone off for a period of 8 days (a liberating idea, I know).

In DC (well, NoVA). We were Hyatt-hopping - in his case so he could earn FFNs for the NRT trip - and we happened to be in the same hotel one evening with another moderator. He was a little envious that I had booked a $48.15 rate a while ago :D

Wow -- that's a great rate -- way to go!^

My one aLoft experience was during the SPG version of FFN late last spring, had a concert with the real BNA song-writers, free food, and a fitness fair offering free massages for $89 a night. The room was very comfortable and quiet albeit a bit small. With two people, the light from someone else using the restroom at night could be a little problematic for me.

I had absolutely nothing to do with the rate available but it was cancellable until day of stay. My checkout portfolio after one Hyatt gift check acquired for $40 from Costco was less than $3.

Wasn't a major or intermediate release - more like a "hotfix".

I've learned that one must always book 2 dbl beds at an aLoft -- otherwise the one bed layout is too small! I did win 2 free nts at the aLoft in ONT/Rancho Cucamonga, CA -- and was treated very nicely. aLofts work for me -- I like the fact that as an SPG elite -- you get a free coffee & that includes cappuccino from the machine they have there!^
