A customer special of $3 for a draft beer anytime every day is not a special.

If one acts like a typical obnoxious American, one should not be surprised at receiving poor service.

This has been my experience as well, though I have found that people are nicer outside of Paris. (I think this is true of any large city, not just Paris.) When I have gone to shops and so forth the service has been no worse than I would expect on this side of the Atlantic. (It helps that I try to speak French whenever I can, even though my French isn't great.)

I was once thanked -- in English -- for speaking French when checking out of my hotel.

Good morning all. It was nice to sleep in this morning -- this was a well placed vacation day.

I haven't seen $3 draft beer since I was in college nearly 20 years ago.

That $1.75 stuff -- is that real or alcoholic yellow fizzy water?

When I was in college (around the same time) the special was always 35c Rolling Rock on draft...

During college, we had Matt's mug nights when you bought the mug and 1 beer for $1 and all refills were 10c. That is about the correct exchange rate with Rolling Rock...

Cost is not the issue (in this case). My issue is that something that is available anytime, every day, cannot be called a special.

Xyzzy Dec 29, 2009 10:54 am

The amazing thing was that shortly thereafter I found myself being dragged to the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC where Rolling Rock in bottles was the nightly special at about $5 a p:eek:p!
