I can handle the single monitor support. I just have to decide if I want to make that my new home server/media center or not. It is quite tempting, especially since my existing server is full and has been for a few months now. :(

We went to an after-Thanksgiving get-together yesterday at an interesting venue. For those who know SAT, it was at a 70 acre "ranch," accessed via the frontage road of loop 1604, close in to the RIM and the I-10 interchange on the NW side of town. For those who do not know SAT, think generically of a piece of agricultural land amidst the commercial centers that arise where a major by-pass traffic loop connects to the main interstate through a medium sized city.

They have had the thing on the market for a couple years, at a ridiculous price/sqft, and have turned down at least one offer for what I would consider to be overpayment for land without sewer, with access on a one-way road, in the County, in an area that appears to already have two regional malls under development.

They could have pocketed teen-handle eight figures after taxes, retired early, and be living out the rest of their life in places more pleasant, with what small luxuries that might bring. Instead, they're holding out for a 20-handle, with the market now over the top, living with the traffic, and their mesquite, and feeding the cows they need for an ag exemption with purchased hay, because they let the fields deteriorate.

It is amazing to me how people can latch onto an opinion of value and hold on to it, regardless of changes in the economy and, more vitally, regardless of the reality of the cost that attains simply from the passage of time.

Now it's time for another foray into the Land of Leftovers. Until the evening...

For those of you who may not know, CLT is right on the border with SC. Hence, why the "Carolina Panthers" are not the "Charlotte Panthers."

Anyway, one gets a lot of SC news in CLT which is pretty funny, as SC shall we say really is a different place.;) Accordingly, this weekend in SC it is a "2d Amendment Tax Free Weekend." Yes indeed, gun sales (including hand guns) are not being taxed this weekend!:D Note, ammunition is still subject to tax.:D

Kick off is at 3pm. A win today puts them into the Championship game next weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for the team. My son lost his position as the place kicker but still is doing the kick offs and field goals and is sometimes put into the game as a wide receiver. Maybe today the quarterback will throw the ball his way.

Later.

Good luck!:-: Enjoy the tailgating, too.

Boys and their toys. Yesterday, mid afternoon, an expedition was mounted by a van load of middle aged kids to some place called something like "Bass World." The abandoned women related that it was a multi-story mega store for fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities that most guys say they do but really don't.

Just meant more pie and flirting for me. I'm currently operating under a temporary ground halt; a last minute wardrobe change is apparently required.

The indicated post counting is obviously in an EUA state (new adjective for malfunctioning). Starting today, I had multiple "994" posts, and now have multiple "997's."

That must mean that when the tape catches up, it'll show over 1000 posts. Small milestone in absolute terms, for one swimming with posting whales, but something for me.

Wait, I figured it out. A new post induces a restatement of all prior posts as well. Duh. That means this is 999...

Edit: And 1000 will wait until this evening.

Edit2: Ground halt lifted. Posting halt still in effect. GTITAN : TALF induced movement is probably not evidence of a robust "thaw."

Indeed, perhaps it was "Bass Pro Shops" which we have a rather large one in CLT. I see you're getting close to 1000 posts too!

In addition, we've seen some movement in the CMBS world with a TALF deal and some other trades which is good although I seriously doubt the signs of true "thaw". I am concerned thought because the bleeding necessary in the commercial real estate market has not seemed to come yet.:(

All of your posts show your current post count by design. We anxiously await 1000. I just want to tell you good luck. We're all counting on you.:D

+1. Looking forward to the magic 1000!^

Agreed, in the totality. We're a long way from the light at the end of the tunnel being anything other then an oncoming train.

My non-stop Boston - New York City has diverted to a random Burger King in Massachusetts somewhere for snack time. I'm not happy about it as I'd really rather just get home 15 minutes earlier and I was smart enough to bring my own lunch on board. I sortof secretly hope we leave someone behind who stays inside too long, though I know that is mean and wrong.

A poor analogy, but one that might make you feel any better, as a legal matter, society only punishes for thoughts with concomitant action "in furtherance thereof" that is considered illegal (i.e. societal wrong) It does not punish for thought alone of any variety whatsoever. Thank Heaven!;):D

So they've confused non-stop with direct. Awesome™.

I certainly didn't execute any concomitant actions. :p

And we're back on the road now, smelling quite strongly of french fries and with 100% of the customers on board. One woman tried to get back off the bus to do something "for just a minute" and the driver made it clear that he likely wouldn't be here when she got back. Kudos to him for actually enforcing the short duration of the stop.
