Thanks. Watching sunset over the NYC skyline from the Triborough bridge into Queens right now. No, I have no idea why we're going into Queens since the ultimate destination is NY Penn. But the sunset was pretty damn beautiful. Had we arrived an hour earlier like originally scheduled I would have missed that, so I guess that's a small reason to be happy for the delay. But we're now headed onto the BQE so odds of further delays seem rather high. :(

Those 6pm dinner reservations are looking quite questionable now.

Good that you could appreciate that 'moment' -- a beautiful sunset!:-:

Afternoon Box!

Spent seven hours making kolaches and klobasneks with the better half, my mom, and grandmother. My grandmother made her best attempt at brushing me up on my Czech but I'm not four anymore and can't retain like a sponge.

The kolaches did turn out well though:

We skimped a little this year and just did sausage klobasneks and in the kolaches we did cream cheese in some and poppy seed in others. I think we came out with 15 dozen.

They are very labor intensive because the dough has to be worked a certain way, then allowed to rise, filled, allowed to rise again, baked, covered, and carefully packaged.

Wow!^ What a nice family tradition!;)

Good Evening All:

Hope everyone is doing well. Just had some Firehouse Subs for dinner with the family which were pretty good! However, when I eat at places like Firehouse, Quizznos and/or Subway, I cannot help but think of my childhood in Upstate NY and the old "Mom and Pop Delis" that abounded, and getting food from those places. Alas, it was a different time and place, the world keeps moving, and so must we.

That all sounds wonderful.

Interesting little thread percolating in the main forum over the eternal question as to whether CO or DL works better if you're a NYC based flyer. Now, that really is a YMMV situation as a whole host of considerations really come into play IMHO. For "you know what" and giggles (and given a real slow day herein ;):D), assuming for purposes of our analysis that a passenger in question is given to purchasing lower class fares and proximity to either EWR or JFK is a wash, I think it goes something like this:

1. For destinations reachable just from the greater NYC market, advantage goes to CO. Simple fact, CO has more nonstops compared to DL.
2. For ease of upgrades on deep discount coach, advantage goes to DL. DL has a hub at JFK without a plethora of elites. It makes upgrades pretty easy. Anecdotal evidence here, on my transcon to SFO on a "BE" equiped 752, silvers were being upgraded. We know likelihood of that out of EWR.
3. Fares, that is probably going to be a wash.
4. Quality of facility. Strong advantage goes to CO. EWR is just better than the pit that DL has at T2. T3 and T4 at JFK.
5. Quality of Staff: Again, advantage goes to EWR. The DL JFK folks are something special IMHO:rolleyes:. YMMV here big time I grant.
6. Quality of Airline Clubs. DL has the advantage here for food as JFK is one of the few places in the SC system that offers substantive food at certain times of the day. The PCs though at EWR are generally more aesthetically pleasing IMHO. YMMV here I grant.
7. Coach International. DL probably has slightly more comfortable seats especially if you get a legacy NW A330. DL also features free wine and beer in coach.
8. Coach Domestic. DL is generally a little more comfortable in coach, features planes with AVOD and some have wifi. CO has free meals, DirecTV (well will again soon if I understand correctly), but the seats can be a touch uncomfortable. I think DL has the advantage here.
9. First Class Domestic. It is closer than many people think IMHO, but I think CO still has the best domestic first product.
10. BE v. BF. Probably leaning DL at this point as DL has the lie flat seats, but with BF getting lie flat soon, probably a wash. I personally like BF more, but that is really is a total YMMV.

Anyway, these are some of my very humble thoughts on a Saturday Night. Hey, at least it is a post ....;):D

That is a bummer! Do you take any of the medicine that is specifically designed for the migraine? I have watched people just be debilitated by them. Hope you feel better.:-:

I used to have the appropriate meds but don't anymore. I spent three straight hours in bed and now can't even make myself drink water.
