HOLY $*!*. I posted a few weeks ago in the National forum how ticked I was about arriving at LAX on a Monday night around 9:00 PM and having to wait while two or three National buses zoomed right by without stopping, several of which were not full. It ended up being a 20-25 minute wait for a bus at the UA terminal there. Last week I got an e-mail from a PR person at National corporate wanting my phone number. Just now I got a call from their manager at LAX apologizing, wanting to know when this happened so he could check the schedule and speak with the drivers about it, and wanting to know when I'd be back at LAX so he could "hook me up." Turns out I'm headed back there next Monday. I still need to book the reservation, but he gave me his e-mail and requested to know what time I'd be arriving, and is going to set aside something for me. This could be quite interesting…

There is, of course, commercial service to Jackson (Hole), WY, and to the town at the southwest gate of Yellowstone, in Montana, the name of which escapes me.

JAC? That's way huge by Wyoming standards. They get year-round mainline.

I'm talking the EAS subsidy stuff that's lucky to see a couple of Great Lakes Beech 1900s each day, or maybe an EMB-120. Those are the fun ones.

West Yellowstone has service, as does Bozeman. Those are two of the closer airports to Yellowstone, in addition to Jackson Hole.

Duh. The southwest gate of Yellowstone is, in fact, in West Yellowstone.

Jackson is really wonderful. Where else can you find 4-star hotels, mechanical bulls, fine French cuisine, WiFi in the restaurants' patios, and great galleries all in one place? Well, Texas, I suppose, but add the Tetons, and it's a unique destination. Served by US, to boot. West Yellowstone, maybe only SkyTeam USA...

Agreed. Sorry to be so omnified, but liberal that I am ;), I had an issue with her singing an Obama song she didn't learn here (and her outside activities are Girl Scouts, Church, Tennis and ballet - I am truly doubting she heard that from any of those) and why she was singing it. I think I'm being quite calm as others probably have called the school. I have taught her to respect the President; but don't deify him with God.

Moving on, somehow, we're spending New Year's Eve in Nebraska. A nice dinner followed by a party at the Marriott there. Our Nebraska babysitter turned 16 this year, so think my parents will be filling in with bl jr and my best friends' youngest daughter; at the Children's museum. I haven't told them yet, but how can they say no after dumping me for Christmas? My first New Year's Eve with my best friend in years, so hopefully fun. I just need to ensure no balloon drop.

We loved Jackson.

I believe UA or Great Lakes serves West Yellowstone as well.

Trying to book IAD-GRU (or EZE)-FRA/MUC-LHR in F, or IAD-GRU-(DKR)-IST-LHR in C. The TK flight doesn't seem to have any reward seats available within the two-week period within which I need to go.

CM, do you remember how long ago it was that you posted the photos of the Tomb of the Unknown? I looked last night and couldn't find them. Last evening, I was chatting with a man who has a relative who was one of the guards, and I told him of your shots and that I would forward a link.

Being a Guard, by the way, has some Spartan conditions attached to the honor, but it is, apparently, a very big thing in the Corps.

The badge that Tomb Guards wear is the second-least frequently awarded occupational badge (not to be confused with medals) awarded across all of the Armed Services. The rarest one, you ask? Would you believe that the Army has a version of Astronaut wings?

Link to the original post containing the pics is here. If your friend or anyone wants full-res originals, do let me know.

Personally, I would love to try to convince BA to bring the Concorde out of storage.

I'm sure there is a price, the question is what that price is.

Never happen, sadly. All of the Concordes are up on sticks or on museum display.

I love it. Recently he was throwing a fit about how horrible CO is and how wonderful DL is because of his upgrades on discount fares out of LAX not clearing on CO. Now CO is wonderful again.

On one hand, it is fun to watch him get the UA people in a tizzy. On the other, it doesn't say much for an individual's larger character if something so trivial in the grand scheme as a frequent flyer program has such little loyalty attached to it.

To all former service members in Teh Box. I received an email from USAA over the weekend stating that they are enlarging admission criteria for their insurance services to all service members who received an honorable discharge.

Indeed. Add that phone call to the to-do list for tomorrow.

I'm not sure I'll even bother bidding on it as it will probably go for some ridiculously high amount.

Wow. That's spectacular. No more words needed.

I suppose I could party with some of the sea FTrs. I haven't been properly tanked in awhile now.

Be wary of the FT SEA-based crowd. There's always the chance that upon publicizing the intention of a Mini-Do in Seattle he who shall not be named will show up and follow everyone into the men's room.

I'm sorry. Utica is a city best viewed speeding past on the NYS Thruway.

You know IIRC, Utica is the only stretch of the Thruway in NYS that has street lights. Wonder why that is?;)

Ahhh...even the police state of New Jersey cannot defeat me. SuperG1955 and I (and possibly mwg25) will be enjoying an exercising of our Second Amendment rights on Thursday. So far there are 1,400 rounds of 9mm to be split among us, and another 400 rounds of .380ACP. I love the smell of primer...smells like freedom. :D
