Wow, I saw that featured on Travel Channel -- it was either a Hot Dog Paradise or an Unhealthy Food Location (or something like that)....

We made a turkey tonight to have leftovers. We're in a turkey and liquor-induced haze. We ended up scrapping the wine when the refrigerator/ice maker repair cost nearly $400. Straight to the hard stuff... ^

Apparently, the ice maker has been making toxic ice. Thank god it has been diluting liquids that have hidden the toxicity... :D

Booking done. That was not a nightmare; more like a bad hallucination. At Mom's insistence, I had to book via the res number (to insure they were on the same LGA-PHL since the website would have been sequential bookings, and had the risk of blah blah blah, and the $25 each res fee is, of course, irrelevant).
First US agent hung up on me (and I wasn't being snarky or rude in any sense); second one was good. Now for the easy parts: hotel and car service reservation. |

I was feeling really good about the toxic ice story, except for the personal results...

Have a good evening... |

I'm watching Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. Visiting some of these places would make a great Do. We'd have to call it the Heart Attack Do.

That sucks; too bad it wasn't CO and SFO station was handling them. ;) But I'm going to tell a quick DL shuttle carry-on story.
Wedding going on, around and at Columbia U, 2007. Think 116 and Broadway. I pick up young attendee at LGA, arrived on Delta Shuttle ex BOS into the old Marine Terminal (which is soon to be vacated by them, BTW). Aside: A sucker for historical terminal structures, to me, the MAT's art deco and history still survives through the ding and disuse. Get the young man to the hotel; he needs his backpack, remembers that he carried on in BOS, but not off at LGA. I call DL to find out if plane had been cleaned in LGA and backpack recovered: DL tells me go bugger off; that information is not available to the likes of me. I call CO elite line, explain, they track it down for me while under no obligation to do so. Plane did a quick turn at LGA, back to BOS, with another quick turn and back to LGA. We're in the downtime between service (I left for LGA right after) and reception. Wait for re-arrival time frame, run back to LGA, suck up to DL counter please please have the overhead around seat X (don't remember) checked for the backpack. They do, find the backpack, which has logged three segments, we recover same at security, do the run back over to the reception, only miss part of the buffet, but are saved an hour or more of small talk. Moral: Next time someone starts a thread that says "I just became Elite, now what's that good for?" Answer: You'll think of something. |
