I just bet an airfare with my mother the seasoned travel agent...

Here's the bet, and please use the honor system and don't look it up: EWR-SEA R/T for two people in F, Monday-Monday for 14 days, outbound on Labor Day Monday. I said that a single ticket would be no more than $1400AI, while she countered that the fare would be closer to $2000 than $1400. Let's see who in Teh Box would win or lose on that action. Remember, no cheating...just an instinct answer.

If only TK would open up IST-JNB. It gets in early enough that I could fly Air Namibia JNB-WDH-WVB, for cheaper than my one-way JNB-WVB with SA. I could also drop MS, whilst not losing out on a new carrier to try (SW).

Thanks for joining us folks on Smith Street and, more importantly, thanks for caring.

The scary part is that we're mostly the stable group rather than the foaming/ranting crowd.

Paid F or M/B/Y-Up? Or BCOUP?

My guess is that a full paid F fare is ~$2600 but that there are pleny of ways to do it for ~$1500 if the BCOUP fares are there on that route.

ETA: I just checked my answers. Quite interesting. Spoiler below for the cheaters in the crowd, albeit in white text.

Amen to the back half of that. In regards to the first half, yes, they come in here for a laugh and their daily dose of .

This far out, 1400 is a good number for a non-business travel day and 14 day stay-over.

Paid front cabin via CO.com and not a GDS.

I take it that all the BCOUP fares I see on FareCompare Y-UP search are equivalent to UA HRUPMY or US A00US____ fares - as in, actual F fares, and not elite-only full-fare coach upgrades?

Correct. They are only on some routes and are available to anyone, assuming appropriate inventory.

Hmmm, noted for my SEA-NRT trip

So I should do this my 1 day in HKG
