Morning Box!

One problem with that routing - CLT-BOS would be on US

Best make it CLT-CLE-BOS.

Agreed. It may be partly because I grew up transiting ATL a lot as a kid. But I don't mind it at all.

The current train system -- which is airside -- is relatively new. IME it works pretty well for changing terminals as long as you stay on the same side of the airport.

I don't mind it either, but it is somewhat jarring when you ride it for the first time, what with the expedient acceleration and deceleration. DEN has the same system but it seems to be somewhat less violent.

It was like a war correspondent broadcasting from a surrounded bunker. ALCO should award you some title for affecting continuity in the face of electronic chaos.

Why thank you xFF, I guess it was just like Edward R. Murrow from London during the dark days of WWII, but without any journalistic talent, any war, any courage and/or anything else that typified the "greatest generation." Other than that, I think it was just about the same.:D:D

No, it's an above terminal train a la TerminaLink at IAH except not nearly as crappy.

Agree about the walking part, but my beef with ATL is that the monorail stops are 1,000 feet apart, and Bombardier programmed the system to go from zero to what the hell upon leaving the station, stay at what the hell for 500 feet, and then go to the brake setting called "what one of those crash test dummies feels" for the second 500 feet.

BTW, let us know when you post in the UA forum. With your signature, there should be some interesting replies.

I have no plans to go in there anytime soon. Not because of the signature, but solely because it's the UA forum. My current forecast for visiting there is sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2010.

That's true, and you'd have to change terminals in BOS. You could replace CLE with IAD but then you'd be stuck on Mesa, at least in the short term.

That is an exceedingly polite description, IMO.

That's the price of the very short (90 sec peak) headway, as opposed to the ~3 min best at DEN.

The absolute worst airline experience that I have had on a consistent basis is CLT-IAD on Mesa. The airline and the airport were just awful every time. It did not matter time of day, season, weather or whatever, it was just awful.:td::td:

The train at DEN also plays snippets of music when arriving and leaving (Rockabilly and boogie-woogie, as I recall) to get you in the proper mood to change terminals.

Come to think of it, it's surprising we don't see more monorail "surfers" there: the kids of all ages that try to do the trip without handholds of any kind. It is the equivalent challenge of Black Diamond on the slopes for sure.

The ATL train should require an E ticket to ride. Zoooooooooooooooooooooom!

There's a name for that: non-medicated suicidal. I'm genuinely surprised that someone unfamiliar with the airport has not sued after falling over due to the hard start or stop.

Speaking of airport "people movers" and the , is there anything worse than an IAD moon buggy? Gosh, those things are pathetic. Haven't been through IAD this year, have they finally been replaced by much vaunted underground train?
