I thought of that too. I know that's why NY has high rates. It cost more to demolish the never used nuke plants than the original construction cost.

Wow. People in Connecticut are getting hosed. Over 20 cents per kw/h on average for residential electricity. Almost 3x what someone in Washington pays. I wonder why the huge discrepancy.

I'll throw myself in that hosed category as well.

 the insane fear of nuclear that is well controlled. Nuclear that is badly constructed and maintained is a grave danger, but otherwise can be a very good clean source for many years.

Nu-cu-lar.:p

I'm annoyed because I can't take the tax break offered this year on metal roofs because mine is the wrong color. I'm sorry, but other than possibly 1 week, keeping the house cool in the summer isn't really a concern of mine. The heating season is way more of an energy concern.

Which is outrageous! The salvage value of the material in those plants should have more than funded the costs of taking down the concrete. Oh, wait. It New England, as in "mob," as in "construction industry corruption."

This "heating season" you speak of intrigues me.

Overrated in many ways, especially for those with a cooling season and a heating season.

Not overrated in my house since I'm always cold. I moved the AC duct out of my office at work.

I hear ya! I am dreading the "school tours" that I will be doing next summer/fall with Miss TeenBrit. Although, while we are in Boston we are taking advantage and will be looking at Harvard (ha! ha! not a chance!) and Boston U campuses, just to be nosy!

You could be like my parents and let her go on her own and choose a school that way. It taught me how to figure things out on my own like the L in Chicago and MARTA in Atlanta, not to mention other assorted planes trains and automobiles. I learned problem solving early when my flight was cancelled due to a mechanical and my parents were a few states away. Somewhere, though, I believe there is a balance between teaching your kids independence and not knowing what the foxtrot they are doing ;)

There was a fire in a Dumpster in Nashville and a body was found. The news teaser just described the body as a "possible victim".
