I've been stuck with that since I lost my Blackberry 8830 in the layoff and it has been hell, let me tell you. I long for the day of getting my sweet, sweet Crackberry goodness back in my hand.

It is exceedingly unfair to have to drive by a Krispy Kreme every morning and not be able to stop. It is equally difficult to know that there is a shelf full of cookies, crackers, and other assorted wonderful things and a cooler full of sodas that I cannot partake of.

Being fat is .

I've never understood teh Crackberry hype. I don't text much, or email much, and find the screens on souped-up phones (even iphones) too small to enjoy teh interwebz. All my travel is for leisure, though, and there's really no point in being "connected" to my work email after hours.

Oh, how I long for those days.

Yeah, but if I'm going to change carriers and pay to get out of a contract, I'll probably just get an iPhone.

I looked at the Motorola CLIQ, which is their Android device for T-Mobile, but they've customized the Hell out of the OS for that device, and you really can't undo any of that and take it back to the baseline OS. I'm fine with some, but not all, of what they did, but apparently it's all or nothing, and they make it difficult to go the nothing route.

GSM Pre's are coming by Q1 2010. in fact at recent dev convention one dev was using his on AT&T....

I don't even know who I would text, assuming that I even had the capability to do so. It is faster for me to speak than it is to type anyway.

I've never had a blackberry or anything of the sort. Several employers (all law firms and my current employer) have suggested that I get one (at their expense), but I always decline.

Work is work; it is not my life. Every weekday at 5:30 pm (or before, if I can help it), I stop working. No emails, no phone calls, no work.

More people should try it.

As far as I am concerned, if you want me to be accessible at all hours of the day (and night), then you need to pay me about 5 to 10 times more than what you are now.

It all depends on your job.

I'm very good about using my crackberry to check and see what's lurking in the inbox. Can I doddle on my way to work and stop at Dunkin' or is there something pressing? It's also great when traveling to look up things like seat maps.

Having a work crackberry is no different than a work cellphone. And, I'm very good about not picking up the phone during off hours as well as simply turning it off.

But, yes, occasionally I'm not as disciplined with it as I'd like to be and I peck out a reply at a bad time.

As long as there's room in the Neo-Luddite Tent for mac fanboys. :D

ETA - I don't have a TV or Cable/Satellite/etc., either. LOST is about the only show I'm interested in watching, and I can catch it on abc.com at my own leisure.

My company pays for my BlackBerry but I have yet to get a phone call on it that is work related...Email only but I was told to use it as my primary phone so that I have it with me at all times. So far its been nice and saved me about $75/month.

I'm slowly moving into that frame of mind. I have a work Blackberry that I used to check religiously. But now, we've been told that it's for work use only. OK, I can live with that. I have a personal 'prepaid' phone that I have for the few phone calls I make. The Blackberry gets thrown in my bag at 5 and I don't look at it anymore in the evening. I'll look at it once per day on vacations and unless it's something major, I don't respond. This business of expecting 24/7 coverage while poo-pooing a 2 minute personal phone call just isn't going to cut it.

I use to laugh at people using the excuse that "my dog ate my homework" until my son had to use it, for real. I had placed his backpack on the floor and the dog took out all of his papers and a library book and proceeded to eat everything.
