fozz (and sbm12 too!) it does look like you can connect through Europe on your way to Asia. When the rep and I were trying to get my EK flights he also suggested some LH connections over as well.

They are offering it but it isn't actually ticketing for anyone. :-:

J. Edward, if fozz said that you have to cross the same ocean both ways, there should be no reason that launching from SFO could work even if you go to DXB, if you can get the right flights, no? EK services BKK and HKG. Pick up something else on :-:A from there. Make your way to DXB and come back eastbound, thereby crossing the Pacific twice. Granted it's a less desirable option because you're giving up the nonstop back to IAH, but wouldn't something like that in theory work?

I believe the EK HKG-BKK flight is not available for redemptions using CO miles.

Not between those two cities. EK flies DXB-HKG and DXB-BKK. In theory he could catch either of those and get himself back to the West Coast from either city, no?

I think the problem is SFO-DXB would go over TATL so the return would have to be over TATL, that is what fozz was saying about crossing same ocean.

Right, and I'm arguing the opposite. He could potentially construct something that goes TPAC twice.

Guess I should look into redeeming CLT-GIG before BD and US go the way of the Dodo.

I doubt that TPAC routings to DXB are going to be permitted.

I considered grabbing CLT-LGW before it went away myself.

Are you guys really talking about burning miles to fly US?

I'm just not a big fan of London. At least, not big enough to use miles and US to get there.

CLT-GIG is a night flight. I would just eat Carolina BBQ in the terminal and enjoy waking up in Rio after a night in an angled-flat seat that is better than what CO deploys on IAH-GIG. :-:

I hope you'd at least route through Europe on the return. :p
