Some in the Box may remember I spent time this summer working with Students from West Philladelphai High School's EVX team on their public speaking skills. A piece about the team ran on the Today show earlier today.

Here's the video.

I think I saw you cranking a model T in the intro :p

Teh Futbol = for me.

I played (badly) as a kid and a teenager but I only got into it as a spectator sport when I lived in Belgium for a year in my 20s. It has done wonders for my knowledge of European and Argentinian geography.

It is like baseball in that, most places in the world other than the US/Canada/Australia, if you know a little bit you have at least something to talk about with most anyone.

I tried this after I got your text the other day, and again now... I'm still getting the "The application you are requesting is currently unavailable" so I think they might have pulled it

I would try it again.

I just made a second attempt and it seemed to work. So the site may be having issues.

I don't know this to be the case, but it would not surprise me if there are many palms that have to be crossed in order to do airline --or any other-- business in Russia. Maybe they just said no.

Possibly, but there were other routes that I just can't remember. We're talking about 10+ years ago at this point.

I got into football when my grandparents scheduled a trip to DisneyWorld in July 1994 during Copa do mundo.

After the World Cup, I played soccer in teh autumn and baseball in the spring-- and was atrocious at both. :D

I grew up around it so it is very different for me.

One time I was listening to Franscesa and Chris Russo on WFAN during football season, and some Latin guy called in and wanted to talk Futbol. (His team was Trinidad and Tobago). They mocked him to the point he hung up, and joked about it for at least another day.

I felt sorry for the guy: it was sports talk, and he wanted to talk about his sport. Only mistake he made was in latitude.

Yep, although that partnership ended around 2002. We might see something with US this go around, but I think it's much more likely to happen with UA first and there's a good chance it won't happen with US at all.

Don't know if anyone still watches it, but as kid in the 80s I loved watching on ESPN, Australian Rules Football! I thought that was a great game! Not sure if it had real rules or not, but they certainly knew how to decimate the guy with the ball.:D
