There's a Chautauqua flight attendant I kept getting last year that did that. And since some flight attendants have a nasty habit of saying "We ask…" before every announcement they make, we got to hear her say "We ax…" about three dozen times on every flight.

I'm honestly curious to see what the plane looks like and the attitude of the staff.

:D (I am a former US1, too.)

We've already figured out how we could make NYC work if my partner was to get a job there, so I think we could figure out a way to make the cost of living in any North American city doable.

The way to do that is to get a rent-stabilized apartment (if there are any left) and live in a tiny space. My wife and I lived on the Upper West Side for five years when I was a graduate student and she was a school teacher, and we made ends meet. Not having a car helped too.

You say that until you need a cheap fare to requal for Plat in 2011.

You'd be awfully bored, though (no power or IFE on US). Better to drive my way and fly to SMF or someplace via IAH.

UA: PHL-SEA-PDX-SEA-PHL or PHL-SFO-PDX-SFO-PHL and probably many more creative routings because its UA. $140 a/i. I couldnt find same day weekend turns but I found Friday-Saturday turns and Saturday-Monday turns in October. Ex dates - 10/30-10/31.

Let me know if you see any weekend routings Sat-Sun?

Wow. If I had some teaching money in my pocket by this point, I would do it.

Devils win; Life Is Good.

CM: There is another good book that I read a while back about connecting all the dots, around the world, that lead to 9-11. I can't remember the author or title but I will make it my project to research if you are interested in this topic. Let me know.

UA routing rules and easy access to PHL with the ability to credit to CO might mean that I could make status on my usual leisure trips and a small amount of goofy flying. Hmmmmm.

I hope you enjoy them.

I'm looking forward to your picks - I picked up Master of Disguise and Gideon's Spies among others. Also picked up the other Tony Bourdain nonfiction, Fast Food Nation, and the book written by the keynote speaker at my MSP thing last week. New Stuart Woods book and Ghost by Fred Burton round out the pile. I'm using the Reading List app on LinkedIn to track my readings. I only have 36 books in there so far, and my goal is to eventually come up with something meaningful for that app for every book on my shelf.
