So last night I drove from YUL to central PA (~7+ hours) for my 630AM flight out of MDT. I got bumped ^ due to overweight issues (the plane, not me :D). I was hoping for a bit more, but got $200. I guess the other benefits help out (324 more lifetime miles and 557 more redemption miles b/c I connect in EWR instead of CLE; $6 for breakfast; F from EWR-IAH instead of Y on CLE-IAH, even though CLE would have been my first Live TV flight).

Edit: And now I realize that since I had the GA book me into F on EWR-IAH instead of a lunch voucher, I'll get a few more miles out of the deal, and maybe even more mileathon credits. Now if there were only somewhere to sleep in MDT since I only had 2 hours to sleep last night.

Good that they gave you comp for a W&B issue. They actually do not have to based on DoT rules. And there is always a place to sleep in an airport - the floor. :p

Another chapter in the book of strange stuff you see while traveling

Went downstairs to grab breakfast (I'm at a Home:rolleyes: Suites) and in the elevator there were two elderly ladies wearing nightgowns. I didn't think much of it and even made some idle conversation with them.

The elevator opens and, being a gentleman at least once a week, I let the two ladies out in front of me. From across the lobby someone squeels "ohhh Delores" and runs over and hugs one of the two ladies. Just as I'm stepping out of the elevator approximately 50 people come running over and begin hugging and kissing these two ladies, welcoming them back to PA. I quickly become enveloped in what feels like a friendly rugby scrum.

Before I know it, people are hugging me and welcoming me back to PA and asking how I'm doing. I politely smile and every time I try and tell them that I think they have me confused with someone that's part of their group more and more people come over and say hello hug and kiss me. I'm getting firm hand shakes from the men and no one seems to notice they've never seen me before.

And, to make this whole scenario weirder, over half of them are wearing flannel night gowns / pajamas.

It took all the strength I could muster to make it to the coffee station and grab a cup. I ended up going out by the pool and walking around the hotel to get to the back elevators to go back to my room. It's okay, I didn't really want that frittata.

I'm now sitting in my room, plotting my escape, wondering if there's some poor shmuck that looks like me staying in the hotel that's about to make his grand entrance into the lobby and be greeted with a very cold reception. "Oh, Johnny, yeah, well, we already said hi to you."

My life is bizarre.

They were overbooked by 1, so I volunteered. When they were still over by 1, they started saying they were 2 bags over weight and were looking for volunteers to leave their bags for later. I said that if they bumped me, I had 2 bags that could re-route too. Someone must have overslept b/c it wasn't overbooked in the end, but they gave me the $200.

I'm surprised that one or more of the LOL's didn't offer to escort you back to your room.

Ill give you guys first dibs on this one...

UA: PHL-SEA-PDX-SEA-PHL or PHL-SFO-PDX-SFO-PHL and probably many more creative routings because its UA. $140 a/i. I couldnt find same day weekend turns but I found Friday-Saturday turns and Saturday-Monday turns in October. Ex dates - 10/30-10/31.

Let me know if you see any weekend routings Sat-Sun?

This looks to be a UA special to US hubs that expires Oct 31.

Good night Box.

I'm off to research a book title for CM. I really should write down the titles of great books that I have read. @:-)

Thank you. I can't promise when I will get to it, but you have a great batting average on recommendations so far. ;)

Morning CM,

What's with our Devils?

Complaining about a win, eh? I don't care how the two points get there; I'll happily take them. Garbage goals are still goals if they cross the line, and the one credited to Parise in the first period reeked of dumpster juice. The Cardiac Kids strike again with 1.2 seconds left on the clock. Being a fan of this team is not easy on the nervous system. That MSG Plus TV promo for the Devils with the tagline "Have your cardiologist on speed dial" was plenty true last night.

Tampa always puts up a good fight - very good game overall.

Farting dogs, substandard toilet paper, old ladies in nightgowns...you really should consider doing a book. You could be the basis for Up In the Air 2.

Morning, Box.
