I have long since passed PE for next year, yet I still have a lot of flying left in the final quarter of the year. Here is the problem

I actually have to fly UA (have 2 RTs booked already) and have at least 5 segments on UA. With a small amount of shifting, I could get probably 10 more segments without difficulty (no MRs). So, should I go for 2P (the lowest level) or just forget it. A number of my travels are going to be outside of CO due to lack of service. Between UA and US (my favorite airline  (TM) ), I would be able to maintain low level UA elite level while satisfying my travel needs. What do you all think?

I'd go for it. Access to E+ for no extra charge is worth it IMO.

Yup. It is good for a CR-1 if you can convince the agent that it is an involuntary downgrade and not that you're on a Y ticket.

Perhaps I should deal with a different agent to get my CR7-swapped GEG-SFO segment placed into ExPlus. ;)

Too bad I can't use that excuse on the upcoming ex-Ted 320 I have scheduled on a DEN-MSY flight week after next.

You're not already in F on the CR7?

FWIW, when this came up at a moderator meeting I was vehemently opposed to it. I still am. It's a total slap in the face to those whose first language is not English (and to some whose first language is!).

The original flight was a CR2. UA does not automatically move you into the F cabin when there is a swap to an aircraft with ExPlus or F.

All of the UA schedule changes you guys are seeing are worrying me - not a single one of my MSP-GEG segments has changed! There must be a problem with my records...

:p

Well at least you're no longer on a CR2. Any  you have to put up with to get into the front cabin on the CR7 is probably worth it.

I'm still not thrilled with UA's change of the 4:45 PM-ish IAD-ATL flight on Fridays from an E70 to a CR7. Guess it could be worse but I still much prefer the big Embraer.

Wow, ya'll have been busy PWPing in the last 8 hours. Howdy from the PClub in HNL. :D

Flying into CAN (ORD-NRT-CAN). We've got a Friday evening, all day Saturday, and most of the day Sunday in Hong Kong. Any recommendations for accommodations in the $300/night range?

I might have 1 free day in/around Guangzhou. Given that it is huge, polluted, and dirty, any must-see attractions? Alternately, given that it's a free day at the end of the trip, I could try and juggle my flights to have a free day elsewhere. I was considering Tokyo (never been to Japan before) - if I fly into NRT and have a ~29 hour stop (my flights are booked as two separate tix on UA and ANA, if the agent did it right), how feasible is it to get in a decent afternoon (arrive ~12p, depart ~3p next day) in Tokyo?

We were in GZ for the day and the primary goal of our trip was for my male counterparts to shop for fake bags (ick!) for their wives. So we ended up doing a lot of shopping. Times like this where I wish I would write things down.. I don't remember the name of the street but it was packed with people. And by packed, we could not move easily. Might have been Beijing Lu.. but if shopping is your thing (it's not mine) you will have plenty of options! :)

Looks like there are a lot of temples and museums in the area so I'm pretty sure you would be able to find something to entertain yourself with (along with the yummy food!).

Whenever I've traveled to China, our hosts have always been very friendly and involved (even when we didn't want them to be). So it's possible that someone will be more than willing to take you around and see the sites.

Whatever you do, you'll have fun, I'm sure (erm.. when you are not working those 12 hour days. BTDT! :D).

LOL. Clueless UA rep tried to sell me an upgrade on GEG-SFO. After educating her on how UA fare buckets work, I made it into the pointy-end without paying anything.

Both of my GEG-SFO flights are still showing CR2s. :(
