Where are you staying at in Guangzhou? I would suggest the JW in HKG since you co worker is Plat and you'll get lounge access and the lounge is very nice with a great view and good MTR access from the JW. Plus1 and I (hopefully I but at least Plus1) will be in HKG during that time. We can PM closer to.

Hotel in Guangzhou is TBD. The plant is located about a 35-40 minute drive east from the city center. There's a 4-star independent property less than 2 km from the plant, but there's a Marriott in the city center.

If we can make it an all Marriott trip at the rates they want in CAN and HKG, I'll be gold by the end of the trip (and 1K thanks to UA DEQM).

Definitely drop me a PM closer in - it's almost fitting that one should meet a fellow B:rolleyes:xer while halfway around the world!

I did lots of lurking before posting. My posting was quite slow at first. I started on the UA board and the UA board isn't the easiest board to post on ;)

I was a lurker early on too - I think I discovered FT via an article in Slate about the Iceland mistake fares back in '04. Used to dwell in the UA forum a lot too, plus a fair amount of posting in the early days of Travel Photography, and OMNI back when posts counted there.

Baglady is laughing hysterically - so much so she could hardly spell

FT Lurker Sep 23, 2009 8:30 pm

My condolences, baglady.

I have Shures too but I can't wear them for longhauls. Generally 4 hours or less is OK. Anything more I have to go with the Bose.

If you don't mind dropping the $$$, you can get custom earmolds made for Shures. I had to get new custom plugs for the job, so I sent the impressions in to get earphone tips as well. Much more comfortable.

I would love to know something about the person who wrote the original "brain/brain on drugs" ad with the frying egg. While it might not exactly make you John Lennon, producing anything that fixes itself in the mind of a generation is a pretty rare and wonderful thing.

EWR is the origin, ORD is the destination. 719 miles.

They have a 50 mile threshold. So you can upgrade up to a 550 mile trip with a single e500...

0-550 miles - 1 e500
551-1050 miles - 2
...

So, since 719 is in the range of two, i have to cash-in two of 'em.

That is awesome!
No wonder they are in the finical position they are in. :-:

Condolences to you and your family, baglady.

(just catching up on the Box and made it to the sad news)

Brituchenite, you missed a great event tonight. I saw your nametag on the registration table and I was going to take it, but the table was never left unattended. :-:

They had a nice selection of wines that they will start offering at the PC’s. They also had Hors d'œuvres for snaking on. ^ I spoke to a few different people from Chase and CO and they genuinely seemed interested in hearing feedback about the PP MC and their airline in general. I Won two Pat Benatar tickets :-: and I left with $125 in Morton’s gift certificates

My first flight ever was in Nov of '99. EWR-LAS on CO. Now I will end the year with about 350K lifetime miles towards MM status

A B fare to NRT?
I am still waiting for one to clear that I requested on miles. The other is a B-up. ;)

Will do. My first FT DO was in HKG (DIM DUM DO). The Marriott is okay in CAN. They just redid the lounge a couple of years ago (and the hotel in general which was well needed). There's a good (legit) massage place there in the lower area, not run by Marriott if I recall, but super cheap, clean and like I said, legit. A good way to unwind after a 12 hour day. And heck, if you can make gold after all that, I would definitely try.

You will find lots of people with their new babies there. It is adoption central. I always enjoyed it and Plus1 would tend to get a call every third day asking if I could bring a baby back.
