They are second in the merger queue, after JAL.

That one is actually kinda sorta pseudo quasi real.

Northwelta's only interest in Zimbabwe Air is their currency.

Let the record show that I'm saying it right now: DL's attempt at JAL will not only fail, it will epic fail. The DL hubris that I have so often mentioned is causing them to seek a bigger share of the Japanese pie than they can chew.

Yea -- a planeload can be exchanged for one drink certificate.

+1 to that. They are losing so much goodwill in Asia by turning off Northwest and not blasting out that it's becoming Delta.

"fight fires", haha. Good way that you put that.

Yes. The Forest Service also used Marana to provide planes, fitted with custom tanks and nozzles, to Latin American governments for forest fire work. I did not, of course, mean this:

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras - Washington has revoked the visas of Honduras' interim president and 17 other top officials to pressure the Central American nation to reinstate ousted leader Manuel Zelaya, Honduras' government said Saturday.

Last week, Washington cut off millions of dollars in aid to the Honduran government in response to Micheletti's refusal to accept a mediated accord that called for returning Zelaya to power with limited authority until elections set for November.

That and the cultural sensitivities that go along with a foreign owned company trying to buy a Japanese company.

I spent almost a year of my life immersed in that  that I'll never get back.

Their hubris has led them to believe that all of Japan will one day magically wake up and figure that out.

I find the response to the situation in Honduras is sad. Zayala's own party wants him out and the ousting (not a coup) was completely legitimate. I have a feeling there are some back door dealings with Cuba on the issue.

I had the same interpretation of "fight fires" as ConciergeMike. Of course, a big part of my job is to state things in a manner where most people are afraid to ask further questions.

Anyway - just got off the phone with SPG; not only will a free weekend night get you charged if you don't show up, they also aren't cancelable in many cases. The nice representative ^ did call the hotel to request that I be allowed to change arrival by one day without a $215 fee.

Thank you. I'm honored, and the Box is a wonderfully welcome addition to my all-too serious and uneventful life.
