Won't say I'm crazy about MEM the airport, but Pam Tillis' "Maybe it was Memphis" is one of my favorite female-artist country songs.

True - I was just shocked to see a non-FedEx one on the takeoff roll from BNA.

Marana is still, IIRC, the home of the joint-service HALO/HAHO skydiving school. I remember reading the Dick Marcinko book in which he told the story behind the characters in the fictional Rogue Warrior series, and some of his SEALs once had to find a guy in the desert who had a chute failure and pack his body into a vehicle loaded with ice to get him in for postmortem care.

I just got bored and opened a chase business and personal checking for 50k CO miles. Im also glad I waited as they count toward the mileathon but I had to move back to the US to join the mileathon. Now I dont feel so worthless today:D

SDF-LAX-ANC-HKG and back.

ANC really got screwed by Russia opening up Siberian airspace and putting great circle back to the routes. Before that, just about everybody, it seemed, had to stop in ANC, except for like SFO-Japan.

Speaking of Mileathon - is it just me or does the GE award package (BF luxury trip to Shanghai) seem more exciting that the PE award package (BF luxury trip to Paris)?

Marana is very interesting, and worth Googling. Evergreen (the CIA proprietary) was there, the field manager at one time was the guy who directed air cover for the Bay of Pigs invasion, there is currently an ANG or reserve operation there, the special ops connection you mention. And lots and lots of off the books airframes parked just a little ways away in case a couple of planes might be needed to, say, fight fires in Honduras.

I saw this place a few years ago. Hundres of aircraft just sitting there in rows. Pretty impressive site.

So I am updating the maps on baglady's replacement Garmin GPS for the one I lost :( and am 486MB into it.

That's a whopping 24% completed. Windows reports only 10 more hours to go.

Didn't you spend days updating another appliance recently? If it was the original Garmin, I would indeed be  at the moment and asking AmEx to replace it with something else.

Both UT games are 3-0 affairs at the moment.

I can also say that neither UT seems destined to be ranked number 2 in the nation based upon their accomplishments thus far today.
