Are you using their network, or that of an attached Starbuck's? If there is one of latter, you can get AC power there, but at a cost for signal, probably.

My current work laptop wouldn't even buy me two hours - netbook is a beautiful thing.

Speaking of laptop, xyzzy would be happy to know I'm getting rid of the Dell D620 - my "newer" laptop is a Dell D630.

Just turned on Family Guy. Busty teacher asks student, "what do you see?" Uh, two D's and an F.

I don't have Google Earth with me, and, anyway, probably couldn't id them if you can't. If C.Mike or Hartmann could be convinced to take a look, both seem to be extraordinary spotters of both civil and military planes.

Doesn't sound like you're working.

So, your job is act in a douchey manner and intimidate subordinates? Sounds great.

I had the same interpretation of "fight fires" as ConciergeMike. Of course, a big part of my job is to state things in a manner where most people are afraid to ask further questions.

Anyway - just got off the phone with SPG; not only will a free weekend night get you charged if you don't show up, they also aren't cancelable in many cases. The nice representative ^ did call the hotel to request that I be allowed to change arrival by one day without a $215 fee.

No intimidation at all - rendered speechless is more accurate. And the job's not that rewarding; there's a reason I'm leaving this job and taking a large pay reduction in the next few days.

I know - I was just breaking balls.

Found power but now the bookstore WiFi (for which the fee was dropped a few months ago) is giving me local only. I do not have Google Earth on my laptop, but I'll use Google satellite view if the same shot is there, once I can get a signal.

May be painted that way or Google's way of obscuring logos - the size and shape (and nacelles) of the black ones look a lot like 737-200s.

When the expression "you really don't want to know" comes up multiple times a day, that's not a good indicator (and often due to legal concerns). The senior officials in the type of organization I work in are always facing lawsuits - I already trained my interim replacement on how to communicate with legal and that person starts in the office Tuesday ...

I'm posting from a B&N solely because the fiancee and her sisters are having another supersecret meeting about the trip and surprise birthday party. Supposedly the menu has been the bone of contention for weeks now. Only tonight (far too late, IMO) did I give this garbage the name it deserves. I called it "Drama Club" and got a polite F-you in response.

BBM sent to fiancee:

Barack Obama called - he is jealous of you all's ability to lock yourselves in a room and accomplish nothing for hours on end. He wants all three of you to run for Congress.

ConciergeMike Sep 12, 2009 8:45 pm

Finally - a real connection again...B&N closes at 11. If Teh Summit continues past about 11:10, she's walking home. I can't go in their meetings because I will unleash a torrent of anti- slurry and get done what they have been carping to each other about for weeks in about 20 minutes.
