My beloved sport of hockey is grating my cheese this week. Not only is there no more play until October, but the moron factor at the end of the season is huge. Entitled brat Sidney Crosby exhibited shockingly poor leadership at the end of the Cup finals. The head coach of the Red Wings told him for an NBC camera to hear "that's good leadership right there", and I hope like hell that he was being sarcastic.

In addition to this, Jim "BlackBerry Boy" Balsillie just doesn't get it and is continuing to pester the NHL with his insipid desire to buy an NHL franchise without going thru the proper channels to do so. I found it nothing short of hilarious that the Phoenix Coyotes bankruptcy judge basically said that Balsillie's demand for a quick ruling is the one thing that torpedoed his case to buy the team. That's what you get, jackhole. Follow the rules like everyone else.

I needed to get that off my chest.

I wonder if Fox 5 in NYC will change their news broadcasts to start with:
"It's ten o'clock-- do you know where your Unaccompanied Minors are?"

I don't know too much about any of that because all I do is watch the games. I don't read the papers for anything but the results and am not interested in the political or the financial aspects of the game, only the competitive stuff.

I did however see that Crosby did not line up after the game and that is quite bad form. There is no excuse for that sort of thing, especially from someone who is supposed to be the face of hockey. The only time that I ever can recall that happening was Dale Hunter but the whole world always knew that he was just a pr*ck.

This indiscretion will get added to his obvious embellishment of non-penalties and his reputation for losing his cool and fighting in his own defense. The sad part is that his raw skill will sweep the bad stuff under the rug. After reading the stories about the handshake line, I lost whatever shreds of respect I had for him.

Sorry we didn't get together this weekend, by the way. My father kinda invited himself, and it shockingly turned out fairly well.

ETA: Did Dale Hunter commit that faux pas while he was a Captain?
