Is the DL ticket also to EWR? What itineraries were you looking at? Are you coming from LAS? ITA is showing the same cost for a non-stop from LAS as the connecting flight on DL.

DL: LAS-JFK-LAS in U/U
CO: LAS-EWR-LAS in M/V

All depends on what your projection for the rest of the year is. If you think you are going to be in the neighborhood of making Plat, but it's not a slam dunk, I'd say go for it. But if you have no idea when or if you'll travel again, well, maybe not.

As it stands, I am projecting 71,549 miles.

I think unless that 1100 EQM will be the difference in making another level, it's not worth it. Now if you think by staying on CO you'll get an EUA in addition to the EQM, then it could be worthwhile however I'm thinking an upgrade July 4th weekend will be hard to come by for a gold but YMMV.

That is one thing I forgot to factor: with CO I have a decent chance to EUA as a Gold on an M on a seasonal redeye and with DL I have zero chance.

1100 EQM to another level is one concern, but those are also 1100 EQM not banked toward lifetime.

Yeh, but if you took the $100 saved, invested it in a high yield savings account from now until the time the poster is 1,100 short of lifetime 1MM, there would be more than ample funds in the account to finance one last mileage run to offset the 1,100 miles forfeited today. :D

My ING high-yield went from 4.5% to 1.75%.

Do any of the boxers have recommendations on Wiki software?

but what about the opportunity cost in the form of the upgrades not cleared and the extra miles (ok as a plat there is nothing there but also think about the international lounge access). These are some additional benefits that one has to look at when taking about the $100 to get to the next level in my opinion.

Ha! That's nothing. Think of all the other weird spellings and pronounciations we have - some examples:

Mousehole (a town in Devon). One would think one would pronounce it exactly as it is - mouse hole. Nope! You pronounce it: mow-zul

Towcester: toe-sester? Nope! toaster.

Gloucester: glue-sester? No! glosster

And then of course,, the typical; schedule = sssshedule, not skedule!!

then again, I have had people say to me that when I curse, I sound so sophisticated ....... cursing sounds so much more refined in a British accent!!!

The most awful words sound so great when spoken with a British accent.

LOL.

Was in Bicester today (pronounced 'Bisster'), and when I say bloody hell, as I often do, my FL colleagues love it!

My flight 'routes' seem always to raise a smile too!

:)

ConciergeMike Jun 17, 2009 5:15 pm

Are they "routes" or are they "sectors"?

Unsure! I thought a 'sector' was a component of a 'route'!

Two nations, divided by a common language and all that...

:D

 :( :td: to off-topic political non-sense in a half-way interesting thread.

If people stop biting at the bait, the baiters will stop baiting.

<grumble>

Sorry box, just wanted to vent a little.
