IIRC, the "other" website has a whole thread on how some of the elites use chewing tobacco. Their descriptions on how and what they used for a spitoon was enough to be glad I often sit in 24E when I fly. :D

Finally landed and at the P-Club...and only 4 hours and 14 minutes late. I think Jennifer Hudson is sitting across from me but I'm not positive....wouldn't recognize her.

My mother sat next to Joey from Sugar Hill Gang on the way down this morning. Thanks, J. Ed. - it did work in that we got the upgrades, but it was poorly handled, so much so that the service center agents wondered why we left the PClub. When we explained that the agent there could/would not list us because whoever this help desk person was would not authorize her to do so, then it was another 15 minutes there before we were listed. The PClub agent was not informed enough to be able to refute the help desk person, and the help desk person initially refused the upgrade list because my mother and I were on industry reward tickets. When the nice PClub agent who was stuck repeating what the help desk told her, that sucked. What the help desk told her, loud enough for my mother to hear over the phone was "I'm not here to argue with passengers", among others. Uh, fail. Big fat fail. And yeah, they are PR3 upgrades, just like sfogate taught me. :D. I know that they are subject to all Elites clearing and I have no problem with that. I keep them with me when I fly because I typically do not fly in what one might call peak times. But the point is that whether or not it's a travel agent involved, those upgrade certs come from Houston Sales to industry people in general, not just travel agents. I would find it hard to believe that the ability to process them is becoming a rare skill in a hub. I find it much easier to swallow that someone didn't give a crap and that this nice PClub lady got caught in the middle. Oh well, I have names of all involved except for the help desk biotch, and everyone but her was very nice. |

PR3s are similar to the companion upgrades and are done in the computer almost the same way.

I was merely making note that one of someone else's favorite films was available in high definition. ... Now, the basic DVD is available for $8, but in 6 months the Blu-Ray will be down to around $12; again, not an arm and a leg and very comparable to the SD version. If the impression that it is the Blu-Ray player itself that is what's expensive, there are numerous brand-name models available for less than $200.

But a $200 player - when a typical DVD player is $30-50 - is way more than I'd want to spend. And I'm more of the $8 version than the $27 version for that film. I'm not sure that there could be enough "special" about the special edition to justify tripling the price. As it turns out, there seems to be a chance that I will have a meeting in LA on Monday. I'll be flying AA F for that trip if I go. I might also have a meeting in Florida, though I'd fly jetBlue if I end up on that trip. ;) |

Just curious, what happens when there are multiple folks on the same flight with the same last name?
The first initial or complete first name will come after the last name using a slash mark between them. The person that wrote Shares (ours and all the other airline computer programs) thought in real English. Once you learn the basic format it's easy to learn the rest of the stuff. If you, as a Platinum, was not added to the standby list, the entry is just the same: 6:123-Baglady/J$PLT#U 6:123-Badlady/J$GLD#U yep SLV is for silver. |

I'm not sure that there could be enough "special" about the special edition to justify tripling the price. The price of the player is going down fast. They were $299 in December; which, I guess, is your point. I'll agree on special editions. The only one that comes to mind that was worth the price was Master and Commander. It had a very playable game, maps, historical info and a lot of other add-ons. However, the picture quality of Blu-Ray or HD-DVD on an HD monitor is not even in the same universe as SD DVD. (What is interesting is that whatever was on a special edition often gets burned onto the HD version of the film.) I often find myself watching sporting events that I could care less about on the HDTV simply because the picture is so amazing. Lastly, at around $80 you can get an upconvert SD player that when paired with an HDTV and proper cables, takes SD DVDs to near HD quality. (HD and Blue-Ray players do the same.) This is good enough for movies I like, but for movies I love, I do lust for the HD version. Todays WalMart circular had a Blu-Ray player for $124. |
