Keep in mind that Paris is like New York City -- on one hand everything about those cities are so uniquely French/American respectively, but on the other hand, neither one is an accurate representation of the country as a whole. Get out of Paris a bit and spend some time in the countryside, and you'll probably find that those people find Parisians as exasperating as you do.

The debris they found in the Atlantic is not from the Air France flight...

Where did the plane go?!

I saw a story yesterday on CBS where they talked about relaying flight data to satellites rather than storing it in black boxes, yet a pilots union spokesman said, "how would anyone else like it if they were being recorded at work?". My job does not require me to have people's lives directly in my hands.

Man.. all this talk about Publix has me salivating. Mind you, I was born in Miami and grew up there for the first 30+ years of my life. I MAY have stepped in a Winn-Dixie once or twice. But, we consistently shopped at Publix for all our groceries. Every time I visit home, I get a chance to stop and grab a sub there. There are a few facebook groups dedicated to their subs. As for sushi, a lot of stores throughout the country have dedicated sushi chefs to prepare sushi the way you like it. I remember the Acme I went to when I lived in PHL had a sushi chef who would customize your sushi for you. The Kroger near me has a sushi chef during the day as well.

have you been down there recently? Over 50% of the road is toll way now, separated with a plastic barrier from the 'normal' i95.

Ahh - I follow you now. :) That's only in Miami-Dade, right?

Like I said, I avoid going that far south and stay in Palm Beach county.

the FDR should be both live and recorded to box, and the unions can stuff it, as I heard from the cheesesteak shop when they guy hear the lady wrong about onions ' stuff it!'

The HOT lanes are only in Dade County now. There's talk (maybe even plans) on bringing those lanes to Broward County and PB County as well.

I suspect that the plane either completely and totally disintegrated (a la Columbia), with little pieces now at the bottom of the ocean, never to be found again, or the plane crashed, in masse, into the ocean, and will be eventually be found more or less in one piece once all the sonar mapping gets done.

The union's argument won't gain them any support in the general public, especially considering that most employers monitor employee's internet usage, if not phone conversations.

That would require that they actually completing the road work in PBC. :) I have been told that the widening and reconfiguring of lanes has been going on since well before my time!

If only. I was presented with two (kinda three) options:

1. Pay $272 for confirmed upgrade. I am assuming this was to upgrade all four legs (ONT - IAH, IAH - AUS, and return).

2. Upgrade individual legs. $150 for ONT - IAH and another $50 for IAH - AUS.

I chose to upgrade just the ONT - IAH leg because that is the redeye where I would like my wife to be more comfortable and be able to sleep. She fits just fine in Y so I moved her to 5A bulkhead on the IAH - AUS leg instead of paying the extra $50. I am guessing that the first option was for all four legs because it was more than the sum of the cost of the first two legs. The return legs weren't as important to upgrade for us, and we didn't want to fork over the extra cash right now in lieu of the move, especially after having booked me into paid F originally.

So I dunno if what I experienced was supposed to be correct or if it is a little off, but it seemed to work out mostly ok. I do know that the PDA upgrade waitlist was empty when I did OLCI. Everyone that could be upgraded already was.

ETA: My wife does appear on the upgrade list in 1A (I am in 1B):

Police officers and other public saftey groups do it all the time. It keeps everyone on the up and up and provides valuable information after and incident occurs.
