Most areas in FL have a ton of great courses! Last I read, PBC alone had close to 200 of them! ^
I'm not even sure I could count all of the courses within a 20 minute drive... :) Of course, some of the fees are nuts!

Look at it this way, you won't have to be away from your financee. |

Come down into Broward and you'll find lower fees and tons of new places to play. As soon as you cross that line into PBC, everything is 20-30% more expensive because it can be.
That's just it. For the money I don't really mind the separation. It's a guaranteed one-year contract with option years after that, and I could ride out the  economy over there. And get this: paid airfare or cash in lieu and I can book my own. I want to do it, and I'm yielding to pressure not to. |

If you worked over there, you might even qualify for the section 911 (of the Internal Revenue Code) exclusion from federal income tax, depending on who your employer is and how long you stay outside the US. You should take that into consideration when weighing the offer.

It's government contract work with a company that is known in such an arena. The tour is for a year, but it's also structured in the military leave style to have 30 paid days off. Their benefits sheet states something close to what you're talking about, but I think it's in DoD-ese. We called it the CZTE - Combat Zone Tax Exclusion. I have it in my inbox; let me see if I can find the wording they used.

Good morning Box.
I'm off to fight the High School District. The summer school class my son signed up for is not being offered. The District canceled many classes, including the one my son was signed up for, but I didn't learn of this until I stood in line to get his schedule. In the month since these cancellations were done, the school puts out a daily bulletin--nothing was announced, the school did two mass phone calling to remind you of the summer school packet pickup dates--nothing was announced and "they" claimed that two letter were mailed--nothing received. Of course it's too late to sign up for another class. Too late to sign up for an online class. I spoke with the head of the summer school program about this failure to communicate and I was told that "they" would work with me. Of course "they" still haven't returned my two phone calls. I will try one more time via the phone and then I will pick up my lance and play Don Quiote. |

it could be done with voice to text reasonably, maybe a few inaccuracies in there, but much less bandwidth. In addition domestic could be done via ground links.

So why not transmit at intervals and keep the FDRs? It seems idiotic that in this day and age we do not know exactly where planes are over the ocean.
FWIW, the "phone home" messages that the plane did send with the MX data apparently did have the coordinates in them so they did have some idea of where the plane was pretty early on. |

This type of contracting can be very lucrative and, once you are in the network and start making contacts, it becomes relatively straightforward to jump to the next contract once your current one is up.

That's what it would definitely be - in addition to rather than a replacement. But still, why does it matter? Would it actually have changed the results? I can see spending the coin for positional data to facilitate navigation and reduce airspace congestion. I think that is a worthwhile reason to make the investment and the costs would be much more reasonable. And if that has ancillary benefits such as this one then great. But doing it just for the one-in-a-thousand event is a foolish way to spend money IMO.

I would if I looked good this morning. I'm working on about 5 hours of sleep and currently have steam coming out of my ears. I've tried to reach 3 different people, that sit in an office size of about 100 sq feet and no one is answering their phones.

I'm bored, I need entertainment. The arguments on CNBC are really getting on my nerves at the moment.

I've been researching household appliances online - it doesn't get much more boring than that! Skeedaddling off to lunch now at Dicks Dock in Metuchen. They do the BEST chicken gyros in NJ. |
