Glad to hear things are still going well on your journey! :) How was the LM Khao Lak?

Absolutely stunning. The Andaman Sea was bath-temperature, the suite was huge and gorgeous (I would definitely take a suite in the main building over any of the villas), and the prices were reasonable (though not cheap, per se). With tourism there having taken a huge hit, all sorts of discounts are being offered. We got 20% off at the Thai restaurant on the property, which worked out to the same price as taxis each way into town for a cheap dinner in Khao Lak. Also, we snagged 2x 1hr Thai Massage at the beach, plus 2x 30 min Shoulder & Neck massage at the beach for ~$70 all-in. I could hardly walk after the massages...they were that good.

Our ICN-BKK was operated on an international-config 772, and the biz seats were ^^^. I have gotten plenty of  from breaking out the camera, but have managed to snag photos of all the cabins and lounges visited so far. Though the J cabin was definitely , it was nice to snag my first ride on an A300 via TG. Today we managed to get seated in TG's new F seats aboard a 744 for HKT-BKK. The seats are nice enough, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to redeem for TG F once CO switches to *A. The seat does not go 100% flat (head/back portion retains a slight incline). It's about the same (incline-wise) as the LH F seat, and I think the LH F seat is cushier.

Will be sure to post a full photo report once I get back to the Festering Pit.

We go to AUS this weekend to pick an apartment and sign papers for it, setup a new checking account (hello Chase 21,000 mile bonus), and so forth. We leave SAN on June 14 and arrive in AUS on the morning of June 18, replete with stops in such scenic locales as TUS, ELP, and JCT. Sure to be a  time with it being summer and whatnot. A good friend of mine and his wife are flying out next week to make the drive with us so that should be cool. All in all, good times. :D

Great to hear! ^ We are in one of the ocean front pool villas, so I think we will stick with the private pool over a large suite.

I noticed the discounts last week. I changed our reservation and got a much lower rate that includes free RT airport transfer, 20% off all spa services and a 1500 THB (or some small amount) daily resort credit. On top of that, they've comped us a 1 hour couples massage for some scheduling conflicts we had with our original reservation.

Also good to hear as the 772 J seats are the same as the 744 J seats we'll be taking from JFK-ICN!

I can't wait to see them - your reports already have me excited for our trip in August!

Hope you guys continue to have a wonderful time!

I would also highly recommend the Siam Safari Jungle Trek Full-Day tour (offered at the hotel's tour desk, for a bit under $100/pp). Includes leisurely rafting down a river in Khao Sok National Park, as well as an elephant ride. The scenery there is incredible, due to Karst limestone formations that have been sculpted into insanely shaped mountains by the water.

The tour cannot be billed to the room, and they only take Visa/MC/Cash. Be prepared to keep a good deal of cash on you for both Korea and Thailand. A few places at the LM and in Khao Lak town took cards, but almost nowhere in Korea took plastic of any sort.

Already on the list. The pictures I have already seen are stunning and who could go to Thailand and not ride on an elephant?? ;)

Good to know - thanks! I've also read that many ATMs in Korea don't accept cards from US banks - was this your experience?

Yes. We had to get a clerk at a bank show us how to use the short-bus ATM for foreign card-holders.

I would make an uneducated guess that some headwinds across the pacific might make that leg an issue on the 737-800, a la the problems the 757-200 has on the TATL return to the US.

While I would agree with you, AS flies 738s to HNL and has been for a while with no issues.
