probably so, but when someone pulls the alarm the fire dept has to respond to turn it off and they took their sweet time.

Actual coversation with a buddy;
"Did you watch the Indians embarrass the Yankees 22-4 yesterday?"
"Yeah, the bullpen gave up two runs... they suck."

Welcome to PHL. Those sadistic Eagles fans are the same way. They could beat Detroit 52-7 and both fans and analysts will lament the lone touchdown and call it cause for the Philly defense to be practiced harder the following week or some such lame thing. Oh, and if a California condor farts in the Grand Canyon, Donovan McNabb is blamed. I love that.

The trash cans in the lobby of a certain casino I worked at used to catch fire a few times a year for the same reason. The one time I was there to witness it, none other than a Senior VP walked over and casually spilled his water bottle on it. He then had a great line to follow it up: "I guess I'm putting out fires in more ways than one today."

Awesome, thanks. It's still a maybe trip and the backup to Thailand, so we'll see what happens.

It is a very special place, no matter which resort you choose on the out islands.

The sad part is that we're becoming the new UA forum. We have a handful of folks with a chip on their shoulder about CO and they will go to no-end to stand by their points, no matter how irrelevant they may be.

I wish we could vote them off the island, but alas that is not an option.

Don't get me wrong, I know CO isn't perfect and I will slam them when needed, but at the end of the day, airlines are like cell phone providers. They all suck, just in different ways.

On another note, after I did my John Sterling impression w/r/t your succinctness in the GCM thread, I realized that I forgot a key component: Yankee home run calls are inevitably made to be about the announcer because of the stupid stuff that he adds at the end: "an A-Bomb from A-Rod", etc. I added in the Wizard of Fozz reference but later realized that it should have read something like "The Wizard of Fozz has sent the OP's argument back to Kansas!" just so the joke stayed in true (yeggh) Yankee broadcasting style.

That had me cracking up when I read that the other night. I've been in what my friends call "no bs fozz" mode. When I'm at that point, i tend to be very blunt and harsh. This weekend was one of those times. :)

I used a similar line the last time I had to use a fire extinguisher.

Yes and no. We are getting UA-ish for two reasons: A) We are getting UA leakage from those who wish to see what the new partner is like, and B) the occasional intelligent CO/UA discussion does lead to an often-reasonable volley of posts about CO's faults.

Thankfully we have not reached the point where status level in the forums is a direct equivalent of your right to be there and your inherent right to hang out in the exalted company of 1K's and GS's. I sincerely hope that the day never comes in CO-land when I read something UA-esque like "As a Gold Elite, this should be obvious to you. Why it's not, I'm not sure. Perhaps you are learning impaired." I don't think our happy little forum will ever reach the point of selfishness, arrogance, and self-rightousness that UA has reached, mainly because OnePass is not nearly as complicated as M+, nor does OnePass have the kinds of loopholes that M+ does, such to the point that the UA people coined the term "M+ Ph.D."

I still can't believe that one thread is still going. I would have thought it would have died after Scott chimed in and the expected thanks Scott posts, but nooooo. I'm waiting for a post about an expired passport or visa to be CO's fault.:rolleyes:

True, we haven't quite gotten that far, but there has been a lot more directed anger lately. We used to be a happy easy going bunch.

Really, the way I see it, a handful of people have a huge chip on their shoulder as they feel they've been wronged by CO for some reason and thus they feel the need to constantly beat them up. Or, they just have nothing better to do with their lives.

Nahh, it was a rough week last week and then there was much tension with the gf this weekend. All in all, a brutal week and weekend.

Where's rolov with the mojitos when you need him?

As long as CO is content to make Plat only barely distinguishable from Gold, I doubt this is a concern. In CO's eyes, we are all equally . Well, except for Silvers... Silver:Gold/Plat :: CLE:EWR/IAH

Individual responsibility in this country is dead. Those of us who still practice it should be regarded as shamans of a dying religion that has one copy of its holy text remaining.
