It probably doesn't help that I dropped the Aspire on the floor by accident at a US Airways customer service desk the other day.

JFK is not that bad, especially T4. The DL terminals are another story, however. They are fun, though, in a study-in-dysfunction sort of way. Most of the CRCs provide decent refuge, as well.

Yeah ,I flew into the DL terminal from EZE the other day , after Immigration and Customs you are left in a dungeon with no cell coverage and have to navigate thru a maze to get up to the street level where the pickup is .

Just be careful not to pull an sbm12 and kill your wireless card while trying to clean the fan. :p:D

Last time I arrived at JFK on an International DL flight, I somehow got lost in that dungeon and ended up exiting through a single side door that left me on a side road down by the ramp. After a long walk up the hill and around the terminal building, I was back at street level. I'm surprised I didn't set off some sort of an alarm in the process.

Did you make it there along the coastline, or by following the main artery of the big road that does a U into the Casco Viejo? Make it to the Cathedral at all? If so, I'd definitely like to see the pics. When I came in along that coastal route, I came to a dead-end by some sort of Diplomatic buildings, then made a turn onto a one-way that took me away from the Cathedral. At that point, traffic was so crazy and I was so semi-lost that I just followed the flow until I was back on the main roads, and didn't bother heading back into the Casco Viejo (it was getting dark).
IIRC, that main road that does a U into the old town had quite a few paramilitary-style police hanging out on the street-corners. If it weren't getting dark, and had I been able to find a place to park, it might have been worth sprinting to the Cathedral. :D We managed to find our way to the area around the cathedral and park right there and wander around for an hour or so. I took a few photos but none of the church. It was nice but not amazing, IMO. You can see how they are desperately trying to bring that district back and get it up and inhabitable for tourists, but they have a lot of work left to do.

I helped our nanny's intended buy a tix to visit for Easter. They are perfect for each other. It only took four calls to get the tix booked. I should have never told him how to sign up for the FF acct. because that was rather pointless. I will say educating our neighbors last night was much more productive.

There's a fairly new Marriott in downtown Brooklyn in an interesting neighborhood near where I used to live when I went to law school. It is short walking distance to Brooklyn Heights and not even very far from the Arab food shops on Atlantic Avenue.
But Brooklyn is a big place, and this would not be much more convenient to some of the areas than would be many locations in Manhattan. Where is the wedding?

I have had my Acer Aspire One for only two weeks now, and the fan is already becoming lound and grindy. Apparently, that is a common complaint among Acer owners. The question is whether I should send it in for a warranty repair and go without it for several weeks, or just hang onto it for awhile.
G'morning everyone. |
