A US Customer Service Desk? Does the concept exist?

JFK is not that bad, especially T4. The DL terminals are another story, however. They are fun, though, in a study-in-dysfunction sort of way. Most of the CRCs provide decent refuge, as well.

Yeah ,I flew into the DL terminal from EZE the other day , after Immigration and Customs you are left in a dungeon with no cell coverage and have to navigate thru a maze to get up to the street level where the pickup is .

Last time I arrived at JFK on an International DL flight, I somehow got lost in that dungeon and ended up exiting through a single side door that left me on a side road down by the ramp. After a long walk up the hill and around the terminal building, I was back at street level. I'm surprised I didn't set off some sort of an alarm in the process.

Just be careful not to pull an sbm12 and kill your wireless card while trying to clean the fan. :p:D

The agent at that desk had no clue how to change a full fare F ticket to an earlier flight. The second agent we talked to was very nice and helpful but also had no clue how to change a full fare ticket. Finally, after my friend basically begged another agent to try again, and that agent put us on the ealier flight about 30 minutes before it was schedule to depart. US at PHL is a joke. The CLT people with whom I dealt were much more normal.

Yeah, maybe I should just wait and see whether it resolves itself before attempting any such antics.

SQ is slashing prices from LHR to SIN, SYD and AKL
LHR-SIN-LHR is 1600 GBP Round Trip on the A380 Upper Deck .

For how long are those fares valid?

We must talk later about IST. I am headed there later this year.

I have many comments/thoughts/ideas I can share, including how to get downtown for $3 on the metro instead of the $30 a cab will cost, some good meals, and a few things to see. Definitely a great city to visit and one that I was truly impressed by.

Did you make it there along the coastline, or by following the main artery of the big road that does a U into the Casco Viejo? Make it to the Cathedral at all? If so, I'd definitely like to see the pics. When I came in along that coastal route, I came to a dead-end by some sort of Diplomatic buildings, then made a turn onto a one-way that took me away from the Cathedral. At that point, traffic was so crazy and I was so semi-lost that I just followed the flow until I was back on the main roads, and didn't bother heading back into the Casco Viejo (it was getting dark).

IIRC, that main road that does a U into the old town had quite a few paramilitary-style police hanging out on the street-corners. If it weren't getting dark, and had I been able to find a place to park, it might have been worth sprinting to the Cathedral. :D

We made it in to Casco Viejo with a few wrong turns and a few right ones. We were laughing a lot about your "don't walk there" warning because we walked from Calle Central back towards the multicentro for about 30 minutes and it was a shady neighborhood (though no shade anywhere - damn it was hot!) but not that bad. Only when we went that little bit further south into the ridiculously sketchy area between the Calle Central and Casco Viejo did we realize what you meant. That was a bit crazy.

We managed to find our way to the area around the cathedral and park right there and wander around for an hour or so. I took a few photos but none of the church. It was nice but not amazing, IMO. You can see how they are desperately trying to bring that district back and get it up and inhabitable for tourists, but they have a lot of work left to do.

Are you getting the TravelClub credits? Or letting them navigate the site on their own?

That's probably because they didn't realize you were spelling it wrong. :p It is actually s'il vous plait, if anyone cares.

But Brooklyn is a big place, and this would not be much more convenient to some of the areas than would be many locations in Manhattan. Where is the wedding?

Agreed on both counts (the Marriott being decent and Brooklyn being large). That may be the only branded property in the borough; I haven't heard of or seen any others. But knowing where in Brooklyn you are going to be would be most helpful on this front.

T2/3 is a miserable and despicable mess. T7 is bad, but not so horrible that I go out of my way to avoid it. T4 and T5 are just fine. I've not flown from T1 or T8. Yes, getting there is a bit of a pain, but for one stuck on mass transit wherever possible it really isn't that horrible for me.

The question is whether I should send it in for a warranty repair and go without it for several weeks, or just hang onto it for awhile.

Yeah...that's what happened to mine. Opening it up and trying to fix that resulted in my messing up the wireless. Oops. If you've upgraded the RAM yourself you're out of luck on the warranty repair, I think.

G'morning everyone.
